SAP Newsbyte Munich, Bangalore, August 5, 2025 – SAP and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) deepen their strategic partnership with a new project office on the SAP Labs India campus in Bangalore. The TUM@SAP Bangalore project becomes a hub for innovation, talent promotion and international cooperation – with a special focus on the pulsating technology sector of India. In Munich, the TUM is already represented with its own area within the SAP building, which serves as a contact point for joint projects-now this successful model is being transferred to the Indian innovation location.

The new TUM office on the site of the SAP Lab Bangalore serves as an operational interface for joint activities in the Indian tech metropolis. It supports TUM researchers and students during stays in India, offers space for formats such as hackathons, summer schools, theses and internships at SAP Labs and promotes exchange with local partner institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science (IISC).

“With a new presence in the Indian IT capital Bangalore, together with our TUM Partner of Excellence SAP, we open up new perspectives in the heart of one of the most dynamic innovation ecosystems worldwide-and at the same time strengthen the international range of the TUM as an entrepreneurial university of world rank,” said Thomas F. Hofmann, President of the Technical University of Munich.

Stefan Wagner, Managing Director of SAP Labs Germany, emphasizes: “We continue what we started in Munich in Munich. This project is a strong signal for our common vision: science and economy to interlink and to develop social effects together.”

In terms of content, the focus is on three strategic subject areas: Quantum computing, with a focus on optimization potential to increase efficiency and innovative strength; Data Flywheel for data -driven health solutions, especially in the area of health tech; As well as physical AI, which combines real and artificial intelligence to create more intelligent and more reactionable systems. TUM contributes its scientific expertise in neurotechnology, AI and system biology, SAP, in turn, provides technological infrastructure for AI research and brings its experience in the development of scalable AI applications into cooperation.
