SAP general meeting: handover Plattner to Ala-Pietilä

The SAP SE announced today that the ordinary general meeting of SAP SE Pekka Ala-Pietilä (67) has elected the new member of the company’s supervisory board. The choice of Ala-Pietilä was supported by 95.50% of shareholders. In the constituent meeting of the SAP supervisory board, Ala-Pietilä was then elected as his new chairman. The handover from the previous chairman of the committee, Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Hasso Plattner, completed on Ala-Pietilä.

I am happy to accompany SAP on your way to further expand this strong position.”

As announced in 2023, the co-founder and former CEO Hasso Plattner was eliminated from the SAP supervisory board at the end of the 2024 general assembly. During the term of office of Hasso Plattner as chairman of the supervisory board (May 2003 to May 2024), the market capitalization of the SAP rose from approx. € 30 billion to around € 200 billion, which makes SAP the most valuable listed company in Germany today. Hasso Plattner’s innovation and competitive spirit has been the basis for the success of the SAP for more than 50 years, from the first groundbreaking ERP innovations to strategic realignment as the leading provider of business applications in the cloud and business AI. Hasso Plattner will continue to work as a consultant for the SAP and will continue to provide the company his knowledge and experience.

Aicha Evans (55), Gerhard Oswald (70) and Dr. Friederike Rotsch (51) were re -elected as members of the Supervisory Board with 93.39%, 89.82% or 92.45% of the votes. Prof. Dr. Ralf Herbrich (50) was elected with 99.29 % of the votes as the successor to Punit Renjen, who also left the SAP supervisory board at the end of the General Assembly in 2024.

The Annual General Meeting also approved all other proposals from the board and the supervisory board. This includes the discharge of the board and the supervisory board for the financial year 2023 2023 (99.51% or 99.44% approval), as well as the approval of the remuneration of the chairman of the supervisory board. For 2023, the SAP shareholders receive a dividend of € 2.20 per share. This corresponds to an increase of € 0.15 or 7 % compared to the dividend for 2022. The dividend is expected to be paid out from May 21, 2024.
