Walldorf, October 8, 2024 SAP (NYSE: SAP) today presented significant AI innovations for the technological platform at the annual SAP Teched Conference, which supports 87 percent of global trade. The assistant Joule based on generative AI is the focus of a completely new way of doing business. For example, SAP announced new extended, powerful functions for joules. This includes specialized AI agents who work together to solve complex tasks across different disciplines.

Joule, the AI copilot who really understands your company.

“The innovations presented lead to concrete business results. They help our customers to use the performance of AI, data and new development solutions for accelerated growth,” said Muhammad Alam, member of the SAP SE board and head of the SAP product engineering division. “SAP once again proves its business and technology competence. These AI innovations are based on a cooperation between humans and AI, which will redesign modern business life.”

A turbo for joules

SAP celebrates Joule’s first birthday and presents pioneering innovations that will continue to revolutionize business processes. Joule as the AI assistant who understands company now also dominates cooperative multi-agent systems. These new functions support Joule to solve 80 percent of the most common SAP tasks more efficiently and are seamlessly integrated into the entire company sports folio.

In these multi-agent systems, AI agents with specialized specialist knowledge take on certain tasks in complex business processes. They work hand in hand with other specialized AI agents and adapt their strategies dynamically to achieve their goals together across different business areas. This reduces silos and increases productivity, because the AI agents enable employees to concentrate on tasks that only require human ability.

Two applications were presented on the teched that illustrate this productivity gain through the use of AI agents:

  • An application deals with the treatment of conflicts in a certain business context and, based on autonomous AI agents, solves a number of dispute arteries, including incorrect and missing invoices, non-used creditors and rejected or double payments.
  • Another application from the field of financial accounting uses autonomous AI agents to optimize important financial processes by automating tasks such as invoice payments, invoice processing and booking updates in the main register. As a result, discrepancies or errors can be remedied quickly.

Use the full potential of business data

SAP presents its new SAP Knowledge Graph, which will be available in the first quarter of 2025 via SAP Datasphere and Joule. This innovative technology is based on the extensive business data of SAP and offers users deeper business insights by seamlessly portraying relationships and contexts in the entire SAP data landscape. This enables companies to make more informed decisions based on their data.

SAP Knowledge Graph reduces the complexity of manual data modeling by providing predefined relationships between various business units such as orders, invoices or customers. Due to the special business semantics of SAP, the solution reduces the risk of inaccurate or irrelevant results. This enables companies to develop more intelligent applications and use generative AI more effectively without having to worry about the accuracy of the underlying data.

Strengthen development skills

SAP also introduces a number of innovations to support developers in the area of corporate AI. On the platform SAP Build, which is used to expand SAP solutions, new generative AI functions such as code enclosure and documentation search significantly shorten the development times for Java and JavaScript developers.

In addition, SAP Build is added to the extensibility Wizard, which simplifies the process to expand SAP solutions by being able to access SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition on SAP Build directly from the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public. ABAP developers and fusion teams also benefit from seamless access to the ABAP cloud development tools from SAP Build.

SAP also announces that he has already trained 2 million people worldwide. Actually, this goal should not be achieved until 2025. The SAP Learning Hub has made a decisive contribution to reducing the global lack of specialists with digital qualifications. This learning platform offers, among other things, role -based certifications, free training material and practical exercises for developers. SAP plans to further expand its growing portfolio of AI-related learning opportunities, including courses on generative AI, AI ethics and its advanced AI tools and platforms.
