New cooperation in the field of sovereign cloud combines SAP corporate application expertise with AWS cloud infrastructure, so that customers can pursue AI innovations in heavily regulated industries.
Wall village – September 24, 2025 – Amazon Web Services (AWS), a company of Amazon.com (nasdaq: amzn), and SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced that the SAP Soverewn Cloud solutions will also be available in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. The AWS European Sovereign Cloud is a new, independent cloud for Europe. Amazon is planning investments of 7.8 billion euros.
The collaboration is based on the long-standing partnership of the companies and SAPs extensive new approach for digital sovereignty and AI innovation. The SAP SOEUGN Cloud solutions are security-hardened offers from SAP that are geared towards industry standards for regulated industries and authorities. The cooperation will combine these solutions and saps extensive expertise in business applications with the infrastructure and operational expertise of AWS in order to meet the changing requirements of customers in digital sovereignty in Europe.

The AWS European Soverägn Cloud, whose first AWS region is said to be available in Brandenburg by the end of 2025, has been developed to offer organizations of the public sector and customers in heavily regulated industries further choices in the design of their systems. The offer can help these organizations to meet their specific requirements for digital sovereignty, including data localization, operational autonomy and resilience. The SAP SOEGEGN Cloud functions are already available on AWS in Australia and New Zealand (since 2023), in the United Kingdom (since 2024) and in Canada and India (since the beginning of 2025). The integration of SAPs functions into the AWS European Sovereign Cloud is an important milestone for customers across Europe.
The SAP SOEGEGN Cloud enables organizations to safely promote innovations, to comply with local laws and to scale according to their own ideas. The SAP SOEUGN Cloud solutions on the AWS European Soverter Cloud will initially include the SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP Cloud ERP. These solutions offer customers a secure basis for the management of business -critical processes and sensitive data with the same time supporting compliance with relevant regulations.
