During the London climate action week 2025, on which over 45,000 visitors came together to take part in 700 different events, the SAP was awarded a “responsible AI Impact Award”.
This year’s London Climate Action Week was less about confirming measures, but rather about the acceleration of the implementation. Europe’s largest climate protection event took place for the seventh time and brought together political decision -makers, investors, NGOs and technology experts to accelerate the implementation of the plans of the World Climate Conference (COP30) in Belém (Brazil). Three big topics were in the foreground during the week.
1. Drive the decarbonization and strengthen resilience
Managers from business and politics focus on promoting decarbonization and at the same time looking at the escalating physical risks. From industrial heat to the renewal of infrastructures, the message was clear: climate shifts have become a significant risk factor for companies. Since resilience is increasingly equated with competitiveness, companies include climate data in their board decisions and use this information to develop their strategies.
This change does not tolerate a postponement: climate -related damage and losses are no longer a theory. Companies should treat physical risks with the same attention and urgency as their margin forecasts.
SAP specializes in translating data on physical climate risks into action -relevant information for your customers. By integrating sustainability indicators into their financial models, companies can provide investments to adapt to climate change as cost savings with measurable return on investment.
2. Mobilize climate finance
The gap between capital for climate finance and redesign of the real economy is still large, especially in emerging countries. But there are new impulses. The Mayor of London announced a new Taskforce for climate finance, the task of which is to mobilize public and private means. At the same time, investors discuss mixed financing models and instruments for the financing of sustainability solutions. In order to remain investable, companies must present meaningful sustainability data and credible transition plans.
SAP works with customers to bridge the gap between climate protection financing at macro level and operational decisions. With SAP systems, it is possible to bring environmental data together with financial and risk indicators, so that sustainability reporting not only serves compliance, but also shows value creation. The importance of green bonds to finance climate adjustment increases. And companies that can combine location -specific risks to plan capital expenditure will have better access to sources of financing.
We help customers to recognize the hidden costs of climate shifts – be it increased cooling, transport volatility or water shortage – and to link them to the effects on the balance sheet. The result is a more convincing business case to assess investments in resilience and more relevant data for financial partners.
3. Digital innovation and AI
At numerous events, the focus was on how digital technologies can advance climate protection. SAP and other managers in the area of sustainability emphasized how KI enables everything from the emission forecast to optimize the supply chain, while digital twins help companies and cities simulate disorders, model compromises and optimize resources in real time.
The focus of this story is the responsible AI. At the London Climate Action Week, the non -profit organization Sustainableit.org was awarded the “Responsible Ai Impact Award” for its cross -departmental work, which aims to integrate ethical and human -centered AI into company systems and thus not only efficiently, but also just and sustainably.
This approach follows the global AI ethics guidelines of SAP, which are based on the UNESCO recommendations for the ethics of AI. These guidelines form the basis for the development and provision of AI in all sustainability and business solutions of the company.
At SAP we develop artificial intelligence (AI) with the aim of supporting human activities. Our focus is on promoting climate protection with integrity on a large scale. We focus on providing companies embedded AI tools that transform complexity into clarity and at the same time ensure transparency and verifiability.
Use of SAP technology: from knowledge to effect
The London Climate Action Week 2025 made a fact unequivocally clear: today the leadership role in climate protection depends on trustworthy data and innovative technology, with human -centered AI playing a key role. In the various sessions it was repeatedly emphasized that AI and uniform data serve as catalysts for climate progress- be it in recording scope 3 emissions or modeling extreme weather scenarios.
On the basis of these findings, companies can tackle three main areas in order to carry their sustainability efforts more to the outside world:
- Treat sustainability data as first -class business data: SAP Green Ledger leads checkable data to CO2-Missions and finances side by side. In this way, emissions become comprehensible driving forces that determine profit and loss. SAP Green Ledger, in combination with location -specific climate disease, offers companies the opportunity to better understand the costs associated with disorders – from heat waves to resource shortage – and to reconcile sustainability with corporate planning.
- Support teams with responsible AI: With Sap green token Use AI for the automated analysis of declaration images and process thousands of supplier end documents. SAP Sustainability Footprint Management Use KI to quickly and precise emission factors with thousands of materials and optimize their assignment within minutes.SAP Sustainability Control Tower Now use AI to facilitate the creation of ESG reports (environment, social affairs, governance). The software uses best practice templates to create appealing reports with data visualizations that can withstand the requirements of a revision. This allows the sustainability teams to concentrate on the strategy. At the same time, they are able to ensure compliance with legal regulations more precisely and faster.
- Unification of processes, finances and sustainability in the cloud: SAP Sustainability Control Tower becomes an intelligent application within the course of the year SAP Business Data Cloud. This integration combines sustainability data and business processes on a single platform. This enables consistent reporting that supports deeper insights and smarter decisions throughout the company.
By reducing silos between sustainability department, finance, procurement and operational operation, SAP companies enable companies to act faster – from disclosing climate -related data to investments in adaptation measures. If ESG data is handled as carefully as financial data-with care and including governance and relevance-you become a valuable strategic advantage.
The slogan of the London Climate Action Week 2025, “from morality to essential”, to a practical guide: sustainability is integrated where business is done, and responsible AI is used to maximize the effect without loss. Regardless of whether emissions, adaptation or finance, the future of sustainable transformation is not only digital, it also runs through the entire company.
