SAP and Google Cloud today announced the expansion of their long-standing data and analytics partnership and the launch of SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Google BigQuery. The new solution, debuted at the SAP Connect event in Las Vegas, simplifies access to mission-critical SAP data products from SAP Business Data Cloud through bi-directional zero-copy sharing.
By connecting Google BigQuery, the autonomous data and AI platform with agent-based functions SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC) SAP and Google want to give companies of all sizes instant access to trusted, ready-to-use data for business analytics and AI on their platforms.
For decades there has been a clear separation between enterprise data and analytics. Business-critical data with rich semantic context was siled in transactional systems. Traditional ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes create data replicas that are difficult to manage, quickly become outdated, and prevent organizations from acting on real-time insights. This slows down digital transformation.
The SAP and Google partnership solves this dilemma. By eliminating data replication and unifying the data landscape, SAP and Google Cloud enable companies to develop intelligent agents, automated workflows and forecasts based directly on trusted, real-time data.
Google is now the first hyperscaler to introduce SAP BDC Connect. With SAP BDC Connect for Google BigQuery, companies can unlock the full potential of their data and applications at scale. This is made possible by secure and fast access to SAP’s managed data products with diverse semantics – without delays, without complex data replication and without ETL pipelines. Customers can flexibly combine SAP data with other enterprise data in BigQuery and vice versa to drive innovation with leading analytics and agent-based AI capabilities.
“SAP and Google Cloud have been helping global companies harness the power of data and AI for many years,” said Christian Klein, CEO of SAP SE. “By bringing together Google BigQuery and SAP Business Data Cloud, we offer our customers choice without compromise so they can accelerate their analytics and AI initiatives.”
“Companies support all aspects of their business operations with a combination of intelligence and automation,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. “With the integration of BigQuery and Gemini models into SAP Business Data Cloud, companies can easily create a unified data foundation that eliminates silos and enables the development of a new category of AI agents and applications.”
Innovation with SAP data products and Google BigQuery
The focus of the partnership is the new solution SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Google BigQuery. This is a zero-copy data fabric that enables seamless access to SAP BDC’s semantically rich business data with Google’s powerful data and AI solutions, including Gemini models and the Vertex AI platform. This creates a modern data, analytics and AI platform that supports automated, cross-functional business processes.
This two-way integration forms the basis of a solution that enables companies to develop and scale AI capabilities. With SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Google BigQuery, customers benefit from these opportunities:
