WALLDORF — November 27, 2025 — SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today introduced the EU AI Cloud, the next step towards greater digital sovereignty in Europe. SAP is thus bundling the previous milestones in a uniform framework for a sovereign AI and cloud offering for European customers.
The now complete, full-stack offering of sovereign cloud solutions allows customers to choose the right level of sovereignty and deployment for their needs – whether in SAP’s own data centers, on trusted European infrastructure or as a fully managed solution at the customer’s premises. The EU AI Cloud supports EU data ownership and complete sovereignty, allowing each organization to meet its unique regulatory and operational needs.
Cohere: Sovereign, agent-based and multimodal AI capabilities for European companies
SAP and Cohere join forces to deliver leading agent-based AI capabilities with Cohere North. In doing so, they expand the existing state-of-the-art multimodal AI functions through EU AI Cloud and sovereign offerings. Cohere North will be integrated into SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), enabling EU data storage critical customers to integrate robust, production-ready AI into their core business processes across industries. Together, SAP and Cohere will enable organizations to gain deeper insights, more accurate decision support, and smarter automation of complex workflows – without compromising sovereignty, compliance, or performance.
A strong and growing ecosystem
The EU AI Cloud is supported by a strong and growing ecosystem of leading European and global partners. By directly integrating advanced AI models and applications from partners such as Cohere, Mistral AI, OpenAI into SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), the EU AI Cloud provides a path to develop, deploy and scale AI-powered applications. Customers can use these partner offerings as SaaS, PaaS or IaaS and use them flexibly via SAP’s own infrastructure or trusted European partners.
This collaborative approach ensures that European companies and public sector organizations benefit from the latest AI innovations – safely, in full compliance with European standards and with the sovereignty and flexibility they need.
Deployment options for each security profile
The EU AI Cloud offers flexible deployment via SAP Sovereign Cloud, giving customers full control over infrastructure, platform and software, tailored to their regulatory and operational needs. AI models run on SAP’s software abstraction layer (SAP Cloud Infrastructure + BTP) in European data centers, ensuring compliance and independence from US hyperscalers.
