For e.g. Pharma. A&D industry have to maintain these documents for multiple decades for regulatory purposes. 

Not only this, but business users also want search capabilities to search documents based on Meta Data as well as content within the document, easy access, authorization control and lift and shift of the repository independent of the application solution. 

SAP Document Management service emerges as a comprehensive solution designed to address these challenges, providing organizations with robust capabilities to store, organize and manage their business-critical documents within the SAP ecosystem. 

What is SAP Document Management Services?

SAP Document Management Service is a content management solution available on the Cloud Foundry environment of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). It is based on the OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) industry standard CMIS (Content Management interoperability Services) and include features like versioning, Hierarchies, access control and document lifecycle.

1. Connect to your business storage:

Bring your choice of CMIS-compliant, on-premises or cloud repository to connect with SAP Document Management Service and leverage its capabilities.

2. Embed with your business applications: 

Leverage the APIs to build a customized document management layer on your on-premises or cloud applications. Embed an easy-to-use, UI5-based, reusable component into your application for document management scenarios.

3. Manage enterprise content:

Organize your enterprise content with the ready-to-use SAP Fiori web application and take advantage of document management capabilities like file and folder hierarchy, versioning, authority management, status management, etc.

3. Integration with Document Grounding service to allow it to gather information from Documents and make it available as an AI source.

1. Create a subaccount and space
2. Create and update a service instance and service key
3. Authorization

4. Accessing the Application

Monitoring and Troubleshooting 

If you encounter any issue related to the SAP Document Management Service product, we recommend the following options to troubleshoot the issue.

1. Check Platform Status

Check the availability of the platform at SAP Trust Center Information published on SAP site.

2. Check Guided Answers

In the SAP Support Portal, check the Guided Answers Information published on SAP site section for SAP BTP.

3. Create SAP incident

You can report an incident or error using SAP component i.e. BC-CP-CF-SDM*. Under SDM you can select Integration, application or repository options.
