The first half 2026 release of SAP SuccessFactors solutions for workforce management brings a wave of innovation across time tracking, absence management, and workforce scheduling. From AI-powered pay transparency to intelligent shift planning, these updates help organizations manage their workforce with greater precision, compliance, and efficiency. In this blog, I’ll walk through the key highlights across SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking, Employee Central Time Management, and Workforce Scheduling. For a full overview, be sure to check out the What’s New Viewer.

Closing the loop between time valuation and pay transparency

One of the standout additions in this release is the integration of time sheet data into the Payroll Explanation Agent. Employees can now receive clear, step-by-step explanations of how their recorded working time, overtime, and premiums are valued and how these valuations directly affect their pay. By bringing together time and payroll data into a single natural language experience, the agent removes the complexity behind pay calculations and puts actionable insight directly in the hands of employees.

This capability strengthens trust between employees and their organizations. Rather than relying on HR to interpret payslips or resolve time-and-pay discrepancies, employees get fast, accurate answers about how their time entries translate into earnings. The result is less administrative overhead for HR and a more informed, empowered workforce.

Strengthening compliance and overtime control

This release also introduces attendance quotas, giving organizations tighter control of overtime recording. Employees can record overtime or other quotas within predefined, approved limits, and the system automatically handles situations where no pre-approval exists, whether that means triggering alerts or posting automatically to flextime accounts.

For organizations managing complex labor policies or operating in regulated industries, this capability helps prevent unauthorized overtime postings, supports budget control, and ensures that time recording remains compliant without requiring constant manual oversight. Resolving time conflicts automatically

Managing overlaps between absences and attendances has long been a time-consuming task for time administrators. The enhanced collision handling capability in SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking addresses this directly. When a collision is detected, the system automatically resolves the overlap and surfaces a clear warning message on the time sheet, so employees can verify and take action if needed.

This update provides greater flexibility with enhanced collision configuration options, eliminates the need for manual record adjustments in situations where corrections would otherwise be overwhelming, and supports compliance with regulatory requirements. Expanding payroll integration options

For organizations using external payroll providers, this release introduces structured guidance and tooling for 3rd party payroll integration with SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking. This includes best practices for extracting, formatting, and transmitting time tracking data, including absences, time valuation results, payouts, and time accounts, to external payroll systems.

The integration leverages a new API for replication confirmation to third-party payroll systems, ensuring accurate handling of retroactive changes. The outcome is enhanced payroll accuracy, reduced maintenance effort, and stronger compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. Read more here: Extending Data Replication Proxies to Third-Party Payroll Systems

3rd Party Payroll Integration

Advancing time recording for public sector

For customers running SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking alongside SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition, this release delivers consolidated time recording enhancements for the public sector. These updates provide access to actual costs based on time valuation results within funds and grants management reporting, addressing a critical requirement for regulated public sector organizations.

Employees can now record time entries using alternative cost objects such as funds, grants, fund centers, and WBS elements, not just cost centers. This enables regulated industries to report actual costs rather than planned costs using payroll-processed time data, which is essential for compliance with funds and grants management regulations.

Deeper absence insights with People Intelligence

This release brings a dedicated Time Management Insights app as part of People Intelligence in SAP Business Data Cloud. HR teams now have a single, comprehensive view of workforce absence analytics, including absence duration and occurrence data, unscheduled absence and sick leave tracking, and absence rates with contributing factors.

By identifying absence patterns and trends early, organizations can take proactive action to reduce absenteeism, improve resource planning, and evaluate the impact of health and wellness initiatives. This capability enables both internal benchmarking and external comparisons, giving HR leaders the data they need to strengthen overall workforce strategy.

SAP SuccessFactors Workforce Scheduling

Following its early adopter launch in December 2025, SAP SuccessFactors Workforce Scheduling is planned for general availability this July. This release delivers two foundational capabilities that bring workforce planning and execution together in a single, streamlined experience.

Demand definition allows planners to define labor needs by work center and shift, specifying required headcount, skills, and utilization factors. A consolidated view of planned headcount, planned hours, and total shifts gives planners complete visibility into coverage requirements, with mass edit capabilities and full customization for each shift and work center.

The new shift scheduling board with shift proposals takes this further by generating system-driven shift proposals based on the defined demand. These proposals factor in required skills, employee absences, public holidays, and planned working hours, allowing planners to validate and publish more efficiently.

Together, these features help organizations right-size coverage, protect service levels, control labor costs, and keep schedules aligned and compliant across locations. For manufacturing and production environments where scheduling precision directly impacts output, this is a significant step forward.
