Hello SAP Community,

Welcome to this month’s What’s New blog post for SAP Profitability and Performance Management Cloud – Standard Model (SAP PaPM Cloud SM). We’re excited to share the latest updates designed to give you more control, flexibility, and clarity in how you work with our platform. This release focuses on enhancing everyday workflows—from how you stay informed, to how you interact with AI, manage your data, and understand model compatibility—so you can work more confidently and efficiently.

Read on to see what’s new!

An enhancement for notifications in the SAP PaPM Cloud SM is now available, introducing team-based notifications from the Environment Access screen, where users can view environments, manage their access type (Public or Private), and maintain team assignments for private environments.

To receive these notifications, users must have notifications enabled in User Preferences → Notifications, with either In-App or Email  Notifications selected (at least one option must be active).

If enabled, users will receive team-related notifications by email, in-app, or both. Users will be alerted in the following scenarios:

  • When editing a Private environment and assigning a team, all users who belong to that team will receive a notification.
  • When a team is unassigned from a Private environment, users who are part of that team will be notified.
  • When an environment is changed from Private to Public, users receive a notification about the access change.
  • When an environment is changed from Public to Private, notifications are sent only to users who are part of the teams assigned to that environment.

A new Global Notification Settings feature is now available in the SAP PaPM Cloud SM, enabling tenant Administrators to centrally manage notification behavior across all Users.

From the Settings screen, administrators can configure notification preferences for different notification types, such as: activity changes, private environment changes, process changes, scheduled jobs, and team changes.

For each notification type, the following options are available:

  • Always send – notifications are always delivered to users and cannot be disabled.
  • Allow users to manage settings – users can control their own notification preferences in User Preferences.
  • Never send – notifications are completely disabled for all users.

These settings apply globally and override individual user preferences where enforced, ensuring consistent and controlled notification behavior across the tenant.

Joule is now available on the Report Management screen, even when the SAP AI Core service is not configured in the Joule AI Settings. When the required settings are not maintained, the system automatically enables the built-in Joule capability included in the SAP PaPM Cloud SM.

Picture5.Png

This built-in setup is intended for light use with predefined daily usage limits per user. The system informs users when they are close to reaching these limits or have exceeded them. After the daily limit is reached, Joule remains available, but responses may be slower due to automatic throttling.

With this update, users can start using Joule immediately, making it suitable for occasional questions and simple ad hoc analysis. For scenarios that require frequent or daily use, integrating SAP AI Core via SAP BTP is recommended to provide access to the full version of Joule, with higher throughput and extended usage capabilities.

⚠️ Note for SAP HANA Cloud with BYOD (Application) Subscription

When using the SAP PaPM Cloud SM with a standalone SAP HANA Cloud database as part of the BYOD (Application) subscription, Natural Language Processing (NLP) must be enabled in SAP HANA Cloud to use Joule in Report Management.

More information about this requirement and how to enable NLP is available in the SAP Help Portal: Use Joule Without AI Core Service in Standard Model Reporting.

Some imported environments can contain legacy function types such as Model BW and Model RDL, which were previously supported in SAP Profitability and Performance Management On-Premise, but are not supported in the current SAP PaPM Cloud SM function set.

When importing environments through Content Management in SAP PaPM Cloud SM, unsupported Model RDL and Model BW functions contained in the ZIP file are now automatically converted to Model Table at runtime.

During the import process, the conversion is recorded in the import message log, which can be reviewed in both the Content Management screen and the Application Monitor. After the import is completed, users can open the environment in the Modeling screen and see that the previously unsupported Model RDL or Model BW functions are now available as Model Table in the diagram.

Once an environment has been imported and the unsupported functions have been converted, exporting that environment again no longer carries the original unsupported function types. As a result, the same unsupported‑function conversion message is not expected to appear again for the already converted content in subsequent imports.

For more information about this update, see SAP Help Portal.

For a Query function that is set as Editable, users can manipulate its data by uploading and downloading its data via the Data Management Screen. With this update, to avoid incorrect comment mapping across records or environment, the Comments field values are intentionally excluded during data upload and download

A query element will be considered as a Comment field when it is tagged as a Comment Key in the Properties Panel.

Picture7.Png

When downloading the query data from the Data Management screen, the Comment field or column will be included and visible in the export file but will not have any value. Same as with uploading data, the Comment field will still be required in the import file, however none of its values will be imported or displayed. If any validation is needed, the Comment field will not be visible on the Upload Preview page.

⚠️ Note: This update is only applicable to Query Functions. Other Model Table behaviors should remain the same.

For more information about this update, please see our SAP Help Portal for Upload Data and Download Data

That’s all for now!

Thank you for taking the time to read—we hope these updates help make your everyday work with SAP PaPM Cloud Standard Model even more seamless. Keep an eye out for the next edition of our What’s New series as we continue delivering more enhancements throughout 2026.

Until next time,
Happy modeling! 😊
