SAP Service and Asset Manager continues to refine the day-to-day experience for technicians in the field. The 2511.1 release delivers a focused set of improvements across offline mapping, scheduling clarity, document availability, and asset-centric navigation—helping mobile users find the right work faster, stay productive in low-connectivity environments, and execute maintenance with greater confidence. 

Key features delivered in the SAP Service and Asset Manager 2511.1 release 

Streamlined Offline Map Selection 

The map settings screen now provides a more efficient and consistent workflow for selecting offline maps on iOS and Android. All offline map resources appear in a single, unified list, including: 

  • Downloaded basemaps 
  • Side-loaded TPK and VTPK tile packages 
  • Additional supported offline map sources 

Each map is shown with a clear, descriptive name without the raw file extension, and helper text explains the underlying map type—such as whether the resource contains raster or vector tiles. Technicians can make informed selections without needing to interpret file formats. 

Users can also draw a custom area directly on the map to filter the displayed business data. By defining a polygon on the map, technicians can quickly identify equipment, functional locations, notifications, and work orders within the selected area, supporting faster data exploration and improving navigation on the device during field activities.

Together, these enhancements deliver a cleaner interface, faster map identification, and a more predictable cross-platform experience when working offline.

Improved Operation Due Dates

The display and filtering of operation due dates has been enhanced throughout the app to provide clearer and more consistent scheduling information for maintenance technicians. 

  • Due dates now rely on the new Display Start and Display End dates, which improves accuracy across all views. The Operation List view also includes new due date filters, making it easier to find tasks based on planned time ranges. 
  • To keep the layout compact, object cards now show only the Display Start Date. All operation dates use a shorter, space-efficient format, improving readability across different devices and orientations. 
  • Due-date-based filters in the Operation List allow technicians to quickly locate tasks within specific planned time ranges, helping them prioritize work and manage scheduling more effectively.

Bulk Download Support for PRT Documents

The bulk download functionality now includes documents attached to Production Resources/Tools (PRTs). When a technician selects Download All at the Work Order or Operation level, the system gathers documents from all relevant sources: 

  • Work Order documents 
  • Operation-level documents 
  • PRT documents associated with each Operation 

In the Download All dialog, PRT documents appear in their own sections under the corresponding operations, so it is clear where each document originates. All selected documents are included in the final download package. 

This enhancement provides complete document coverage and ensures technicians have full offline access to all attachments required for maintenance execution.

Technical Object Enhancements for Work Orders and Notifications

Technicians can now identify and filter Work Orders and Notifications using technical objects—specifically Functional Location (FLoc) and Equipment (EQP). These enhancements make it easier to locate relevant tasks when standing at a machine or working in a specific area, helping reduce navigation time and improve accuracy in the field. 

Filtering capabilities 

Filtering capabilities have also been expanded. Technicians can now filter Work Orders and Notifications by Functional Location or Equipment by: 

  • Selecting an object 
  • Typing the ID 
  • Scanning a barcode or QR code attached to the asset 

Once applied, the list updates to show only items associated with the selected technical object, improving efficiency when working directly at a machine or piece of equipment. 

Consistent user experience 

The user experience is aligned across Work Orders and Notifications, with consistent labels, matching filter behavior, and unified formatting. Underlying data models now retrieve and display technical object data consistently to support these features. 

Overall, these enhancements help technicians to: 

  • Identify relevant work faster 
  • Reduce search time 
  • Increase accuracy when diagnosing issues at the asset 
  • Maintain a consistent workflow across all maintenance-related lists

Features described above may be optional and not default-enabled, and integrations with other SAP products may require additional licensing.

Release available now 

The 2511.1 release is publicly available and includes an offline demo mode for viewing and testing functionality with the maintenance technician, field service technician, safety technician, and inventory clerk personas. 

The application metadata is available for licensed customers and partners on the SAP Support Portal Software Center, and the mobile client may be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
