One of the most under implemented features in SAP SuccessFactors Compensation is a Reward and Recognition ‘Thank You’ program. When organisations consider implementing reward and recognition programs, the conversation often turns to budget or the affordability of monetary awards. But a recognition program does not always need to be monetary to be meaningful to the employees it acknowledges. A SuccessFactors Thank You Reward and Recognition program provides a platform for a non-monetary acknowledgement of appreciation. These programs give organisations a way to recognise employee contributions, encourage positive behaviours, and strengthen a culture of appreciation without adding a direct cash award cost.
Peer to peer recognition or manager to employee awards are both supported recognition configuration options. This allows for organisational recognition to happen in the flow of daily work and provide acknowledgement of employee contributions in the moment. Of particular importance, is the ability for the employee’s manager to be included in the award notification to understand additional contributions occurring outside of their line of sight.
Where Thank You Awards can add value
- Recognising employees who support work outside their formal role
- Acknowledging collaboration that occurs outside a manager’s line of sight
- Tying acknowledgement and outcomes back to organisation values and goals
- Encouragement of feedback during the daily flow of work
- Extending recognition where monetary rewards are not possible
Thank you award programs are part of the standard Reward and Recognition module and can be implemented with relatively light touch partner support. Awards can be configured based on specific categories or levels, recognition certificates can be generated, and email notifications can be sent to both recipients and their direct managers.
If your organisation has SAP SuccessFactors Compensation or Variable Pay module licenses, a Thank You program can be a great way to make recognition more holistic and complete. They offer a low-cost mechanism to acknowledge employee contributions and support a culture of ongoing frequent appreciation.
