The S/4 HANA 2025 FSP01 release brings significant enhancements to Quick Financial Plan (QFP) capabilities within SAP S/4 HANA Commercial Project Management (CPM), reinforcing SAP`s commitment to smarter, faster and more integrated financial planning. In this blog, we explore the key innovations delivered in the S/4 HANA 2025 FSP01 release and how they help in streamlining the planning process using QFP`s capability as a comprehensive financial planning component in CPM.

Enhanced Distribution with addition of Rate (Cost) and Rate (Revenue) fields for Quantity-Driven Resource Types

The Distribute functionality has been enhanced for quantity-driven resource types. The pop-up dialog now allows planners to enter Rate (Cost) and Rate (Revenue) in addition along with Quantity.

 The system automatically applies the Rate across all planning periods along with the allocated Quantities. Financial values like Cost (Transaction), Cost (Plan), Revenue (Transaction), Revenue (Plan) are also calculated by the system, thereby eliminating manual intervention.

Addition of Import Functionality

The QFP page for planning now includes a dedicated Import button. Planning data can be brought in from associated Project System projects into Commercial Projects.

Upon selecting Import Data under Import button, the system initiates the import of data from PS project. The import process is executed based on the import method and import strategies configured in SPRO. During execution, the system automatically determines the mapping between the PS elements and the corresponding CPM structure. The progress of the import can be monitored by clicking the Refresh button. Once the Import Status indicator turns green, the imported data can be immediately accessed in the QPF page. The Import Log can be reviewed to access details of the imported data, including the import methods and strategies applied. Additionally, there is an option to simulate the import using Simulate Data function and review the details in Simulate Log. This allows verification of import process before executing it in live environment.

Output Based Planning

Output Based planning is now enabled on QFP for monthly and fiscal breakdown scenarios. Upon selecting the Plan button in Financial Plan, the system displays the Output Based planning option.

QFP allows output quantity to be planned to statistical key figure in Output Based planning. Once the output quantity is planned, the corresponding Input QuantityCost needed to achieve the planned outputs can be planned in Input Resource Plan. The standard options of Calculate Cost, Delete and Distribute are available in the input plan. Additionally, a new Calculate quantity button has been introduced to compute the input quantity based on Productivity (Plan) and planned output quantity. Cash Flow Planning

Cash Flow planning is now embedded within QFP for monthly and fiscal breakdown scenarios, giving organizations a clear view of the incoming and outgoing payments of projects based on the financial plan. This makes it easier to manage resources efficiently and provides a comprehensive view of project financial health. 

Consider the below monthly planning:

In order to access Cash Flow in QFP, select Cash Flow under Plan in Financial Plan. When the QFP Page opens, a new button Cash Flow is displayed. Fig 11: Cash Flow Added Under Plan In Financial PlanFig 11: Cash Flow added under Plan in Financial Plan

Once the Cash Flow button is executed, it triggers the valuation strategy and method associated to the resource type in planning. The incoming and outgoing payment values are then copied to the fields present in the valuation method configured in SPRO.

 QFP also allows to adjust the timings of payments using period shifts. By specifying values in period shift field, the system can postpone incoming or outgoing payments to a later date. Fig 14: Period Shift In Cash FlowFig 14: Period shift in Cash Flow

In the above example the period shift for March is set to 31 and Cash Flow is executed again. The payments are shifted by 31 days i.e. to April. This feature helps prevent timing mismatches and ensures that cash flow projections remain accurate and up to date.

Version Comparison Report

The Version Comparison Report in QFP provides a comparative view of financial plan versions, including baseline, active plan, and forecast snapshots. This consolidated report assists in performing a rapid assessment of the project’s financial health and planning deviations.

In order to access Version Comparison Report in QFP, select ComparePlanVersions under Reports in Financial Plan.
