We’re excited to share the latest innovations across SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration and SAP Business Network Global Track and Trace delivered with the April 2026 release. This update focuses on enabling scalable carrier collaboration, improving operational control at docks and gates, and extending flexibility in modelling and visualizing tracking data.
Highlights at a glance:
In addition to our functional updates, we are happy to share two new customer success stories with you in this edition, so make sure to read to the end.
Cross SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration and SAP Business Network Global Track and Trace
Self‑service testing enabled for carriers and data contributors
Carriers and data contributors can now use the Test Service functionality in test tenants to independently establish a connection with a test shipper and perform self‑service testing of their outbound integrations.
An internal shipper tenant is used to trigger the payload, with the shipper LBN ID and order ID predefined by SAP Business Network for Logistics. Two testing options are available:
- With Default Payload – a static payload designed to validate connectivity from SAP Business Network for Logistics to the carrier system
- With Custom Payload – allows carriers to modify order details to test different business scenarios
This enhancement reduces dependency on shipper coordination and accelerates onboarding and testing for carriers and data contributors registered after May 2024.
Scaling carrier collaboration: New partner service from Coneksion
To further support onboarding at scale, a new partner service from Coneksion is now available. The service leverages pre‑boarded carrier connection layers, simplifying connectivity and reducing integration effort when collaborating with large carrier networks.
SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration
Freight contracting EDI supports standalone products
Freight contracting EDI has been enhanced to support standalone products. With this release IFTMIN (UN/EDIFACT) can now map product item descriptions to FTX segments
The EDI documentation has been updated accordingly
Dock appointment scheduling: Granular role‑based access control
New, more granular roles are now available for Dock Appointment Scheduling and Gate Operations:
- ManageDockAppointmentsDisplayTemplate
- ManageDockAppointmentsProcessTemplate
- ManageGateOperationsDisplayTemplate
- ManageGateOperationsProcessTemplate
These roles are offered as an alternative to the existing roles and allow customers to restrict access exclusively to the ‘Manage Dock Appointments’ and ‘Manage Gate Operations’ apps. While existing roles remain fully supported, the new roles help enforce the principle of least privilege by limiting editing and navigation rights more precisely.
Dock Appointment Scheduling: Check-In on Hold now processed as an event
To improve execution transparency, Check‑In on Hold is now processed as a distinct event in the ‘Manage Freight Execution’ app.
Dock appointment scheduling: New fields for truck and trailer ID
To reduce manual entry and improve data consistency, users can now separately capture:
- Truck ID
- Trailer ID
- License plate and country/region of registration
When truck and trailer IDs are entered in the ‘Freight Orders for Confirmation’ app, the data is synchronized with ‘Manage Dock Appointments’ and ‘Manage Gate Operations’, provided that no changes have already been made.
The new fields are available in the ‘Resource Details’ section, and the license plate field has been moved from ‘Driver Details’ to ‘Resource Details’.
In addition, the Consumer API for Dock Appointment Scheduling (GenericAppointment_Out) and the Consumer API to Manage Gate Operations (GenericGateProcess_Out) have been enhanced accordingly.
SAP Business Network Global Track and Trace
Visibility control now also available for standard model fields
In the ‘Manage Models’ app, customers can now control the visibility of standard model fields, in addition to custom fields.
If the Visible checkbox is not selected, the corresponding standard model field is hidden from:
- Filters and worklist settings
- The Information tab of detail pages in fulfillment tracking apps
This enables cleaner, role‑specific UIs aligned with individual business requirements.
User‑defined tables can be added to tracking unit detail pages
Modelling flexibility has been further enhanced. Customers can now define Composition and Association‑to‑Many field types in the ‘Manage Models’ app and display them as user‑defined tables in the tracking unit detail page.
Previously, only plain user‑defined fields could be displayed. With this enhancement, more complex and structured datasets can be visualized directly in the tracking UI.
Improved data consistency with SAP TM in SAP S/4HANA
Data synchronization between SAP Transportation Management in SAP S/4HANA and Global Track and Trace has been refined. Only the last correlated planned event is now synchronized, preventing inconsistencies and ensuring cleaner event timelines.
Shipment applications become more user‑friendly
Several usability enhancements have been introduced:
- Standard Point Location Code (SPLC) is now displayed in location popovers across all fulfillment tracking apps
- In the ‘Track Shipments’ app, search is now supported based on Carrier Reference Document ID
These enhancements make it easier to identify shipments and locations, especially in high‑volume scenarios.
Celebrating our customers’ success
On top of this month’s release highlights, we are proud to highlight two customer success stories that demonstrate the value of SAP Business Network for Logistics across different industries and transformation journeys.
Sasol, a global integrated energy and chemicals company, was recognized last week as a 2026 Innovation Award Winner for reimagining its logistics operations through intelligent transport optimization and real‑time freight collaboration. By implementing SAP S/4HANA Transportation Management together with SAP Business Network for Logistics, Sasol transformed a largely 3PL‑operated model into an in‑house, digitally connected transportation capability. This approach enabled greater flexibility, improved transportation planning and scheduling, and tighter alignment with Sasol’s business strategy focused on service performance and customer satisfaction.

In addition, we are excited to share a newly agreed reference story with Salling Group A/S, one of Europe’s largest retailers. Salling Group set out to replace manual, email‑driven coordination and fragmented logistics processes with an integrated, data‑driven approach. By leveraging SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration and SAP Business Network Global Track and Trace, the retailer gained clear, connected, and comprehensive visibility across its supply chain—from purchase to store—while simplifying collaboration with carriers and improving control over execution.
