Introduction

Over the past few weeks we've been getting a fair amount of questions about the License Usage Report that was added to the Compensation Home screen in one of the 2025 releases. Here is a quick visual explanation of how it works and how things are calculated on top of the existing documentation. 

Recording

In this 6 minutes recording we edit different compensation and variable pay templates to see how it impacts the Licence Usage Report.

Conclusion

Archiving worksheets will not lead employees to drop off the count. Only marking a template as inactive will automatically make everybody in worksheets created with that template drop off the count but we don't recommend doing it unless there is a good reason for it (if your company downsized a lot then most likely employees that are not with the company anymore are now Terminated in EC and fall off the licence count as a consequence / see example C in the first screenshot above).
