This feature checks if a SAP Signavio process model is already present in SAP Cloud ALM, whether it originated from SAP Signavio, SAP Solution Manager, or another connected application lifecycle management system, and then automatically determines the correct action: updating the existing solution process flow diagram or creating a new one when needed.
By managing unique external reference links for every solution process, including creating them on first update when missing, it preserves a single, authoritative version of each process in SAP Cloud ALM. As a result, you can confidently sync process models without risking duplication, knowing that SAP Cloud ALM always reflects a consistent, unique solution process, regardless of its source, while strengthening governance and traceability across the transformation landscape.
Enable SAP Cloud ALM Requirements in SAP Signavio
Enable tighter alignment between requirements management and process design with this capability that brings SAP Cloud ALM requirements directly into the SAP Signavio Collaboration Hub. When enabled by a workspace administrator, a new Requirements section becomes available on the diagram page, allowing users to view all requirements assigned to an SAP Signavio process model, clearly grouped by project and scope.
From within SAP Signavio, you can navigate seamlessly to SAP Cloud ALM to create new requirements, review detailed requirement information, or update existing ones, while maintaining flexibility to opt out if needed. By providing centralized visibility, contextual linking, and a detailed requirement panel per entry, this feature strengthens collaboration between business and IT, ensures requirements stay connected to the processes they impact, and supports more consistent, end‑to‑end governance across transformation initiatives.
XML Import for decision diagrams
Expand decision model migration flexibility by enabling XML import for decision diagrams within SAP Signavio. This feature allows you to bring decision models from a much broader range of external tools beyond the previous SGX file limitation directly into the SAP Signavio Business Transformation Suite.
By supporting XML‑based imports, teams can migrate existing decision diagrams faster, work with a wider ecosystem of decision modeling tools, and avoid unnecessary re‑work during transitions. Addition of variants and templates to the dictionary’s “Used in” field
Surface complete usage visibility for dimension values by displaying references to process variants and templates directly in the dictionary’s “Used in” field. This enhancement extends familiar dictionary navigation beyond standard process diagrams, allowing users to instantly see where specific entries are applied across variant management configurations. By eliminating the need to manually inspect individual variants, you can more efficiently manage and validate complex variant landscapes. The result is faster impact analysis, reduced maintenance effort, and greater confidence when updating or reusing dictionary entries across process variants and templates.

With broader access to SAP Signavio’s full capabilities, more flexible access models, and a roadmap aligned with real-world enterprise practice, universities, faculty, and students are set to benefit from a stronger, future-ready setup.
As part of this evolution, SAP Signavio has shared an important early update: the current self-service SAP Signavio Academic Edition will be retired in 2026. This change makes way for a modernized academic offering that includes the full SAP Signavio Process Transformation Suite, covering not only modeling and collaboration, but also advanced capabilities such as SAP Signavio Process Intelligence.
What this means for universities and learners
- Existing academic users can continue working with the current Academic Edition until September 30, 2026, without disruption.
- Ahead of retirement, institutions and learners will be guided on how to export and retain coursework, models, and assignments.
Going forward, universities will be able to choose from three complementary access models, ranging from free, university-managed access to fully guided academic experiences via trusted partners, as well as individual sandbox environments for students.

SAP Signavio is launching a completely redesigned Process Modeler with AI-first architecture, modern UX and deep suite integration. AI-assisted functionality supports intelligent decision-making and cross-team collaborative business design, enabling organizations to turn ideas into operational processes. Redesigned features include real-time collaborative process modelling, intuitive design, AI-powered text-to-process and image-to-process creation, conversational process modelling, and intelligent suggestions.
Connected to live business data and the full SAP Signavio Transformation suite, Process Modeler enables end-to-end process management across modeling, execution, analytics and governance for scalable, continuously optimized processes that evolve with their business needs. This new product is planned to have it’s General Availability by December 2026, so keep an eye out for updates!

Workflow action: SAP LeanIX application lifecycle status in the workflow
Diagrams often reference applications that are approaching end of life or nearing phase-out. Without visibility into this risk, approvals can move forward based on outdated or soon-to-expire applications, increasing exposure and creating rework later in the transformation lifecycle.
With this action, approval workflows can now automatically identify and flag applications that are expired or close to expiry directly within the approval process. This helps reviewers make more informed decisions early, avoid unnecessary approvals, and reduce downstream risk. By leveraging the existing SAP LeanIX integration, the capability adds lifecycle transparency to approvals with minimal additional overhead.
Workflow action: Microsoft SharePoint Item Renaming on Move
This new action allows process modelers to rename items directly during move operations, simplifying content organization and reducing manual effort within governance workflows. By enabling inline renaming for Microsoft SharePoint content, organizations can avoid duplicate-name conflicts in target locations, reduce the risk of failed move operations, and streamline content management across SharePoint folders. The result is a smoother and more efficient governance experience with fewer manual steps and improved content organization.
