Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in the Bay Area Developer Community (DCom) event for the first time, and it was an experience that left a lasting impression on me. Going into the event, I knew DCom would be an opportunity to learn about innovative projects happening across SAP. What I did not fully appreciate was the energy, creativity, and passion that would be on display throughout the day. Walking through the event and speaking with teams from different organizations, I was reminded of how much innovation is happening across SAP and how many talented people are working together to shape the future of enterprise software.
One of the things that stood out most was the diversity of ideas being presented. Every booth had a unique story to tell. The event themes centered around SAP's Autonomous Enterprise vision, Joule, Agentic AI, SAP Business Suite transformation, and the evolving role of intelligent systems in business processes. Rather than hearing about these concepts in presentations or strategy discussions, DCom provided an opportunity to see them come to life through real projects and working demonstrations. I had the privilege of participating as part of a joint effort between the CloudOps and Deployment Hub teams. Together, we hosted a booth that showcased how intelligent agents and conversational experiences can simplify customer onboarding activities. While I was proud of the demonstration itself, what I enjoyed most was the opportunity to engage with attendees, exchange ideas, and learn how other teams are approaching similar challenges.
The conversations throughout the day were often as valuable as the demonstrations. Attendees asked thoughtful questions, shared their own experiences, and offered different perspectives on where AI and automation can create meaningful impact. Those discussions reinforced the importance of collaboration and reminded me that innovation rarely happens in isolation. Another aspect of the event that I appreciated was the strong sense of partnership across teams. Our demonstration was the result of close collaboration between CloudOps and Deployment Hub, bringing together expertise from different areas to solve a common problem. As I walked around the event, I saw many similar examples of teams working across organizational boundaries to build something larger than any single group could accomplish on its own. For me, DCom was also a reminder that technology is ultimately about people. It's easy to focus on architectures, platforms, and features, but the most memorable part of the event was meeting colleagues who are passionate about solving problems, helping customers, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
By the end of the day, I left feeling energized and optimistic about where we are headed. The event provided a glimpse into how SAP's strategic vision is being translated into practical solutions by teams across the company. It also reinforced the importance of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning in driving innovation. My first DCom experience was both inspiring and rewarding. I had the opportunity to showcase work that I am proud of, connect with talented colleagues, and learn about exciting initiatives happening across SAP. Most importantly, I left with a greater appreciation for the people and ideas that are helping shape the future of our company.
I am already looking forward to next year's event.
