What’s New for SAP Integrated Product Development
Welcome to the May 2026 blog! This update introduces powerful enhancements designed to accelerate innovation, strengthen collaboration, and improve efficiency across the product lifecycle. With expanded engineering capabilities and deeper integration with SAP and partner solutions, it further enhances how teams work together—from concept through manufacturing and beyond.
Change Management
Default Status Profiles for Change Requests and Change Implementations
As part of the standard shipment, predefined status profiles are provided for the Change Request and Change Implementation sections, each containing a set of predefined statuses.

Updates to Relevance and Implementation Action in Change Management Apps
The Change Management apps are now available to simplify and streamline the user experience.
Key enhancements include:
• Removal of the “Default Relevance” column from the Configure Change Process Types app
• Removal of the “Implementation Action” column from the Change Request and Change Implementation tabs.
• Removal of the “Relevance” column from the Change Implementation section in the Manage Change Process app
• Updated “Relevance” values in the Change Request section of the Manage Change Process app:
- New Version
- Reference
- Not Relevant
- Changebbg

Common Functions
Authorization contexts for test management
Our Test Management SaaS application now allows administrators to manage access restrictions for users and teams directly within the Manage Authorization Contexts app.

New app for managing currency exchange rates
A new app, Manage Currency Exchange Rates, is introduced as an administrative application for managing predefined currency exchange rates with Excel import capabilities and automated timeline calculations. You can now maintain consistent, controlled exchange rates for business planning while avoiding real-time rate fluctuations.
To learn more about the feature, see Managing Currency Exchange Rates.
Authorization contexts for design items
Our Product Data Integration SaaS application now allows administrators to manage access restrictions for users and teams directly within the Manage Authorization Contexts app.

Formulation
New calculation type: Estimated Price
- Administrators can now configure calculations using the new Estimated Price calculation type, which allows product developers to estimate price for a certain primary output. The price is determined based on manually defined unit prices for the formula items.
- A new Currencies card is now available in the Synchronize Data for Formulation app, allowing administrators to upload currency data. This data is required for maintaining price calculations.

To learn more about the feature, see Configuring Recipe Calculations.
Support for explosion recipes in formulas
The system now automatically assigns explosion recipes to formula input items. A new Explosion Recipe column is available in the formula table to display these assignments. This column is hidden by default and can be added through personalization settings.
When the system explodes these recipes, the ingredient list is extended with items from the assigned explosion recipes. This provides a complete and accurate list of all ingredients and their percentages required to produce the primary output of the start recipe.
To enable ingredient calculations that include explosion results, administrators must configure a recipe calculation using the new Ingredients (With Explosion) calculation type.

To learn more about the feature, see Using Explosion Recipes.
New personalization settings for Compare Recipes app
Users now have more control over how comparison results are displayed in the Compare Recipes app.
- You can now choose which columns to show in the comparison table by using the personalization settings.
- A new Comparison Results column has been added. It shows both the comparison result definition and a visual indicator. The column is hidden by default.
- You can also reorder columns in the comparison table by dragging them to the required position.

Enhanced access via OAuth2 client credentials for the Formulation APIs
The OAuth2 Client Credentials flow has been expanded to include create and update operations alongside read operations, improving integration and data management workflows.
To learn more about the feature, see Using Formulation APIs.
Specification Management
Specification Management hybrid scenario ready with compositions
The hybrid specification management scenario is now complete with users being able to load and transfer composition property values between specifications in SAP Integrated Product Development and their SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition system. This needs configuration and loading of such composition properties by your administrator, and also the implementation of SAP Note 3695812.

To learn more about the feature, see Integrating with SAP S/4HANA Specification Management.
Ability to select and add specification versions to multiple composition items together
This feature allows you to select multiple specification version-based composition items at once (including a Select All option) when adding them to a specification's composition table.

CAD Adapters
SAP Integrated Product Development now supports direct integration with leading MCAD authoring tools. This marks a significant milestone for product-centric industries, closing a critical gap between engineering design environments and enterprise product data management.
