With the S/4HANA 2025 FPS01 release, SAP has introduced Multistage Intercompany Sales and Multistage Intercompany Stock Transfer as the next evolution of intercompany processing. These scenarios can be regarded as the successors to the Advanced Intercompany processes and are no longer limited to just two company codes; instead, the chain of involved organizational units can span multiple company codes across the group. The concept is based on a financial chain that is created and assigned to the material, ensuring consistent valuation and transparent end-to-end posting logic across all entities involved.

As with the Advanced Intercompany processes, the new multistage scenarios can also leverage Event-Based Revenue Recognition (EBRR), enabling consistent, event-driven revenue recognition along the entire logistical chain. This blog outlines how EBRR operates with the Multistage Intercompany Sales process in the context of Universal Parallel Accounting (UPA) – since Classic Result Analysis is not supported with UPA, EBRR needs to be used instead. This blog covers the postings in the legal and the group valuation ledgers.
