Introduction
Until now, confirming that employees had read and understood their compensation statements required manual follow-up outside the system. SAP SuccessFactors Compensation now provides a built-in, reportable acknowledgement feature— giving Total Rewards leaders, Compensation Administrators, and HR Business Partners a direct, system-generated confirmation the moment an employee acknowledges their statement.
What's New
SAP SuccessFactors Compensation introduces Compensation Statement Acknowledgement and Report, a three-part enhancement that lets employees formally acknowledge their compensation statements directly within the product, gives administrators real-time visibility into acknowledgement toggle status at the point of statement generation, and extends the Reward Statement Generation Report with two new columns that surface acknowledgement data for every employee. The feature is available for Compensation, Variable Pay, Combined and Bonus Assignment statements. All three capabilities are controlled by a single configurable toggle.

How It Works — Feature Behaviour and User Journey
Employee Acknowledgement Flow
- An administrator navigates to Plan Setup → Settings and enables the “Enable Compensation Statement Acknowledgement” toggle.
- Statements are launched through the standard flow under Complete Compensation Cycle → Reward Statements → Generate Statements
- When the employee opens their statement in preview mode, a new Acknowledge button appears on the statement view — visible only to the employee, not to proxy users acting on their behalf.
- The employee clicks Acknowledge to confirm they have reviewed the statement.
- A confirmation banner immediately appears on the statement, informing the employee that acknowledgement was recorded. This banner is visible to the employee and their direct manager only.
Administrator View at Statement Generation
When an administrator is on the Generate Statements page, the current status of the Acknowledgement toggle — Enabled or Disabled — is displayed inline on the page. No navigating back to Settings to verify; the information is present at the moment of action.
Running the Acknowledgement Report
- Navigate to the Reward Statement Generation Report in Manage Statements Template page.
- The report now includes two new columns appended after Country/Region: “ACKNOWLEDGMENT REQUIRED“ and “ACKNOWLEDGMENT STATUS“.
- Export the report to see the full acknowledgement picture across your employee population.
Key Capabilities
Employee Acknowledgement Employees acknowledge their own statements with a single click. The action is logged and surfaces immediately in the report, eliminating the need for external tracking tools or manager-collected signatures.
Proxy-Safe Design The acknowledgement button is intentionally hidden from proxy users. Only the actual employee of record can acknowledge their statement, preserving the integrity of the acknowledgement as a first-person confirmation.
Toggle-Aware Report Data If the acknowledgement toggle was off when a statement was generated, the report shows “NA” in the Acknowledged column — distinguishing a deliberate administrative choice from employee inaction.
Historical Toggle State Preservation for Moved Employees When an employee moves mid-cycle and ends up with a different statement assignment, the report accurately reflects the toggle state that was in effect at the time the original statement was generated — not the current toggle state. This prevents misleading data when configuration changes mid-cycle.
Per-Template Flexibility The acknowledgement toggle can be turned on or off at any time, independently of statement generation. This means organizations can enable acknowledgement for merit statement templates while leaving bonus statement templates without it — giving Total Rewards leaders precise control over which communications require formal acknowledgement.
Recall-Aware Acknowledgement When a statement is recalled, its associated acknowledgement is automatically recalled alongside it — ensuring the acknowledgement record never outlives the statement it refers to. If the statement is subsequently regenerated with the acknowledgement toggle enabled, the Acknowledge button reappears on the new statement, giving the employee the opportunity to formally confirm the revised communication. This keeps the acknowledgement record accurate and prevents stale confirmations from appearing in
Availability
This feature is opt-in and controlled entirely by the administrator toggle. No support request is required to activate it. The toggle can be reversed at any time without affecting previously generated statement records.
Conclusion
The gap between distributing a compensation statement and confirming that an employee has read it has been managed through workarounds, not systems. Compensation Statement Acknowledgement and Report replaces that patchwork with a purpose-built feature that gives employees a clear way to confirm receipt, gives managers visibility into the outcome, and gives HR and administrators a complete report they can stand behind.
