Successor in the SAP supervisory board | SAP News Center

The SAP SE supervisory board nominated Pekka Ala-Pietilä as a new member of the supervisory board and intended Ala-Pietilä as the chairman, Prof. Dr. Hasso Plattner, to provide. Ala-Pietilä should and should also be proposed for election at the next general meeting for a two-year term, if he is elected, the role as the future chairman of the Supervisory Board.

SAP and Dr. HC Punit Renjen decided to separate themselves from mutual agreement. The reason was the different ideas about the role as the future chairman of the supervisory board, for which Punit Renjen was intended. Punit Renjen has therefore decided to put his mandate on the SAP supervisory board with effect on the end of the SAP Annual General Meeting on May 15, 2024.

Pekka Ala-Pietilä (67) has an impressive success story with regard to European innovations and technology and is excellently set up to support the further successful transformation of the SAP. He was President of the Nokia Corporation from 1999 to 2005 and a member of the SAP supervisory board from 2002 to 2021. In addition, he was chairman of the high-ranking group of experts for artificial intelligence of the EU Commission between 2018 and 2020, as well as chairman of Finland’s program for artificial intelligence from 2017 to 2019. Ala-Pietilä has an honorary doctorate in technology from Tampere University of Technology and in science from Aalto University School of Business. He lives in Helsinki.
