To post accrual amounts at the end of a period, you can use the transaction ACEPOSTINGRUN in the S/4HANA Accrual Engine.
- This transaction is used to post periodic accruals for all applications that work with the Accrual Engine.
- On the selection screen, you’ll find the field “Application Component”:
- If you want to post manual accruals, enter ACAC in this field.
- The fields Accrual Object and Accrual Subobject depend on the application component:
- For manual accruals, the Accrual Object is a combination of the accrual object category and the accrual object number.
- Use the F4 input help to select the correct value for this field.
Posting of Accruals: Define Posting Schema
The posting schema is used to define how accrual postings are structured.
The Posting Schema Specifies:
- How many line items are to be created in an accrual posting
- Which symbolic G/L accounts are to be used in each line item
- What line item type is to be assigned to each line
Important Line Item Types:
- A line item of type 9003 must be included for periodic accrual postings
- A line item of type 9000 may be posted to any G/L account, typically an expense account
Standard and Custom Schemas:
- Standard posting schemas such as SAP_ACE_PP are delivered by SAP
- Custom posting schemas can be created by customers in the IMG activity “Define Posting Schema.
Posting of Accruals: Assign Posting Schema
- For each accrual item type that triggers accrual postings, a posting schema must be assigned.
- This assignment is carried out in the IMG activity:
Assign Accrual Item Types to Journal Entry Types and Posting Schemas
Posting Schema Assignment Rules:
- If an accrual item type is configured to perform all types of postings, it must be assigned to three posting schemas, one for each posting type (ACE TType):
- IP – Opening Posting
- PP – Periodic Posting
- FP – Final Posting
- If only periodic postings are required, the accrual item type must be assigned to one posting schema, for ACE TType = PP.
Additional Requirements:
- Each assigned posting schema must include a line item with type 9003 (required for periodic accruals).
- In the same IMG activity, the document type to be used in accrual postings is also assigned.
