Managing data after an employment termination just became easier.
SAP SuccessFactors now automatically deletes future‑dated Job Information and Compensation Information records (including recurring pay components) after an employment is terminated. Once configured, this enhancement reduces manual cleanup, improves data consistency, and works seamlessly across UI, APIs, and imports.
Designed for HR admins, this feature helps keep Employee Central data clean and reliable, by default, with full administrative control.
This new capability is designed with real‑world HR operations in mind, especially in environments where future changes are planned in advance. The feature is inspired by the Customer Influence idea Customer Influence Idea 249640.
In many organizations, employments have future‑dated Job Information and Compensation Information records, including recurring pay components, already scheduled.
When an employment is terminated, these future‑dated records for the affected employment often remain in the system. As a result:
- HR administrators must manually identify and delete records
- Operational effort increases during the already time‑sensitive termination processes
- Lingering records can lead to data inconsistencies, potentially impacting reporting and payroll
For organizations managing complex or high‑volume terminations, this manual cleanup quickly becomes a recurring administrative burden.
The new automated deletion feature addresses this challenge directly.
Once configured, SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central automatically deletes future‑dated Job Information and Compensation Information records that fall after the (Job Information) termination date of an employment. The automation applies only to the terminated employment, ensuring that any other active employment for the same person remains unaffected.
The feature works consistently across all termination channels, including:
This ensures reliable behavior regardless of how employment terminations are processed.
Administrators can enable the “Delete Future‑Dated Records After Termination” setting for specific event reasons used in their business processes.
New setting in Event Reason Configuration
- All future‑dated Job Information and Compensation Information records (including recurring pay components) with an event reason for which the setting is enabled are automatically removed
- The deletion applies only to the terminated employment
- The system performs the cleanup without any additional manual steps
- All deletions are captured in audit logs, supporting transparency and compliance requirements
The feature is enabled by default but remains fully under administrative control. System admins can determine which event reasons should result in a deletion.
Example: Terminate an employment on May 1, 2026
Note: A Termination entered for May 1, 2026 results in a Job Information Termination Date of May 2, 2026 – the first day an employment becomes inactive.
Data before Termination
