AI has exploded across industries in the last year+, yet we continue to see headlines about AI deployment failures. This is NOT because AI does not work, but rather because several organizations face barriers to deploying unified & secure agents – namely due to lack of governance & observability. Limited visibility into agents prevents organizations from establishing transparency and trust across their AI landscape – until now.

This Blog will focus on how SAP will provide AI users with transparency and trust by overcoming common hurdles around governance. At Sapphire 2026, SAP announced their latest innovation: SAP Agent Hub (blog by Christian).

In this blog I will discuss:

  1. Pillars of AI Governance
  2. What is SAP Agent Hub?
  3. 9 Key Benefits and Value Drivers of Agent Hub
  4. Summary & How to Get Your Hands on it?

Pillars of AI Governance

Business, IT, and Workforce are the 3 key pillars that should be identified when establishing your AI Center Of Excellence.

The Business pillar focuses on the business value and outcomes that AI agents and solutions are designed to achieve. For example, the business outcome of a dispute agent may be to process disputes faster. This KPI provides the business with a measurable objective and allows them to determine whether the agent is delivering value.

The IT pillar, as you may have guessed, has to do with the ownership of the technical components such as where the data is coming from, what applications it’s interacting with, etc.

The Workforce pillar focuses on who in the workforce is using the agent and what skills the agent is providing; allowing the workforce to proactively plan to hire appropriate skills and decommission agents that are not being used.

Why is this important? These 3 pillars form a powerful trifecta that is embedded into the foundations of the SAP Agent Hub.

What is SAP Agent Hub?

SAP Agent Hub, built on LeanIX, serves as the centralized command center for E2E AI Governance, covering everything from planning and building, discovering & provisioning, analyzing & monitoring, securing & governing, to optimizing & decommissioning AI Artifacts. More importantly it is also technology agnostic meaning you can govern your AI Artifacts regardless of the vendor.

9 Key Benefits and Value Drivers

1. SAP Agent Hub Maps to your Enterprise Artifacts – Bridging Business & IT

AI Agent Hub brings together your Business and IT components to ensure the agent contains context across your enterprise landscape, business processes, and organizational structures.

For example, the image below shows a custom agent built in Joule Studio. Immediately you can see the agent is linked to business capabilities and organizations to illustrate what processes are relevant.

From the IT perspective you can see both SAP and non-SAP business applications, along with relevant data objects (image below).

Therefore, the Agent eliminates disparities across the landscape by unifying and mapping to your Enterprise – bridging Business and IT.

2. Discover Everything in One Place, Regardless of Vendor or Origin – LLMs, Agents, MCPs

Agent Hub is truly vendor agnostic!!!

SAP has partnerships with Microsoft, AWS, Google, and ServiceNow; enabling auto-discovery of your agents across your landscape. Agents outside of SAP and the Partner ecosystem can also be added and observed through the Agent Hub.

It doesn’t stop there – your models and MCP servers can also be governed through the Agent Hub – providing you with the full E2E AI Artifact Governance.

3. Ensure your Agent is Providing Value with Business Outcomes Focused Analytics & Insights to Token Consumption

Embedded analytics help bridge Business and IT by providing a centralized view to monitor the agent’s performance. Here Business users will be able to view how often agents are being used along with if agents are meeting business outcomes/KPIs. Similarly, IT will be able to see session history and track the various models token consumption for cost management and optimization.

 4. Understand WHY an Agent is Performing a Certain Way – Audit & Debug

Many organizations require deeper visibility into agent execution. By leveraging SAP Agent Hub and its native integration with SAP Cloud ALM, organizations can drill further into agent health. Organizations can track the agent execution steps – understanding the full scope of tools, data, systems the agent interacts with in what order. Therefore, providing clarity on WHY the agent behaves the way it does. This capability is valuable when it comes to providing audit trails for compliance reasons, as well as, when performing debugging tasks as developers have visibility to reproduce, diagnose, and fix the issue.

As seen in the image below, the agent session/execution can be seen the health scores, correctness, rule compliance, etc. – Providing transparency & observability.

5. Verify Agents & MCP Servers for Additional Layer of Trust

Much like your favourite verified celebrities on Instagram or LinkedIn premium badges, organizations will be able to assign a verification badge to agents & MCPs, providing an additional layer of trust. Verified agents will have designated owners and assigned risk levels.  With this badge, agents will be able to be approved to propagate into production, therefore closing the loop on what is running and what isn’t.

6. Optimize Agents with Agent Mining

Once agents are running the next question becomes, how can they be improved? This is where Signavio Process Intelligence enters the picture! Through the native integration of Signavio and Agent Hub, agent mining can be used to determine which agents can be further optimized based on impact on manual labor, analysis on execution paths, and more. One valuable capability is variance analysis which most monitoring tools lack; highlighting the execution paths the agent can take and pinpoint the root cause for underperformance.

7. Control Agent Users from the Agent Hub

The Agent Hub also serves as a gateway to your Cloud Identity services where you will be able to assign end users to your agents. Organizations can assign users to agents while leveraging existing identity and access management controls. Because agents inherit end-user permissions, organizations can maintain secure role-based access across enterprise systems and information.

8. Map Agents to your Workforce for Proactive Workforce Planning

What about visibility into which business units are using agents? With SAP Agent Hub’s native Integration with SAP SuccessFactors, organizations will be able to identify which business units are using which agents. Resulting in proactive workforce planning as management will be able to focus on hiring skills that are truly needed. At the same time organizations have visibility into what agent skills are not needed resulting in decommission and workforce transition planning. Therefore, this final piece of observability showcases the final stage of an agent’s lifecycle.

9. Claude UI Centric Enterprises can Govern with SAP Agent Hub Through a Cohesive Experience

At Sapphire, SAP announced their partnership with Claude. Organizations with preference for the Claude UI can continue working and governing agents via the SAP Agent Hub dashboard through Claude's UI. Meaning end-users will have the option to view their Agent Hub in Claude without having to redirect to a new login page.

Summary & How to Get your Hands on it?

In summary, the Agent Hub will be the future AI Artifact Governance & Observability solution for SAP and non-SAP.

This blog explored how Agent Hub delivers value throughout the entire AI lifecycle—from planning and building to optimization and eventual decommissioning. While several SAP solutions were discussed, it is important to note that they are not mandatory. Each solution contributes unique capabilities within the broader governance framework, allowing organizations to determine the level of governance and observability that best aligns with their goals. Organizations will need to determine what outcomes and observability level they would like in their Agentic Enterprise.

In terms of getting your hands on it – SAP’s Business AI Platform customers with Joule Studio or AI Units can access the Agent Hub to catalog up to 500 agents at no additional cost + LeanIX customers also get the Agent Hub included as part of their solution. Organizations hoping to catalog more than 500 agents will need to refer to premium tiers for additional agent allocation.

Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming innovations on our roadmap – more to come Q3 2026!
