Spring has arrived and so has SAP IBP’s 2605 release! Discover our flourishing collection of enhancements designed to transform your planning experience:

This release spotlights the powerful Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) feature that transforms supplier operations from manual monitoring to intelligent automation, helping you maintain optimal stock levels while your planning teams focus on what matters most.

Harmonized scenario management delivers controlled shine-through functionality that extends to orders, allowing you to precisely manage how baseline changes flow through your planning environment.  This capability, previously exclusive to Planner Workspaces, is now also available in the SAP IBP add-in for Microsoft Excel.

SAP IBP 2605 also brings sophisticated new product forecasting that taps into promotion data and other variables for more accurate predictions. Plus, you’ll discover refreshed table designs, powerful formula controls with live feedback, one-click forecast simulations in Planner Workspaces, and Joule’s new AI-powered security compliance checks:

Smarter Replenishment, Less Manual Work with Vendor Managed Inventory

SAP IBP 2605 introduces Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) with automated replenishment planning, enabling suppliers to plan, trigger and manage customer stock replenishment with greater precision. This enhancement addresses a critical challenge in supplier operations where delayed replenishment decisions put service levels at risk.

The new capabilities shift VMI from reactive, manual monitoring to a proactive, system-driven model that keeps customer locations stocked while freeing planners for higher-value work. As supplier networks continue to grow, manual replenishment approaches simply don’t scale effectively. By embedding replenishment intelligence directly into the planning engine, SAP IBP 2605 closes the gap between inventory signals and execution.

The solution integrates customer demand and inventory visibility directly into SAP IBP supply planning runs, extending the downstream network capabilities within SAP IBP.  Automated replenishment orders flow seamlessly into ERP systems via real-time integration, ensuring smooth execution without manual handoffs. Exception-based alerts notify planners of deviations that require attention, but these alerts don’t disrupt the automated flows, maintaining operational efficiency while ensuring appropriate oversight.

Sophisticated Forecasting Intelligence for New Products

New product forecasting in SAP IBP 2605 gains sophisticated modeling power through an extended like-modeling logic that handles independent variables, including promotion data.

This enhancement delivers improved forecast accuracy through more precise predictions for new product launches. Organizations benefit from streamlined planning by eliminating manual data copying and the need for complex realignment projects that previously consumed valuable time and resources.

The implementation is straightforward – simply switch on like-modelling logic for independent variables via a global configuration parameter. Once activated, new products automatically inherit the promotion and other forecast input data of their predecessors, ensuring highly accurate forecasts from day one.

Planning UIs

Faster Planning with Refreshed Table Design, Powerful Formula Control, and One-Click Forecast Simulations

Experience a refreshed, contemporary design across Planner Workspaces, with newly redesigned tables in planning views and master data views that deliver a cleaner, more contemporary feel, enabling faster data scanning and intuitive navigation.

Formula editing provides live feedback as you type for improved productivity. Take control of total-level calculations by choosing between aggregating detailed calculations or performing individual formula calculations at the total level, perfect for percentage-based metrics. You can create more than three formulas in a single planning view, and calculate across planning levels – for example, aggregating values from “Product-Location/Ship-From Location” up to “Product-Location” and continuing calculations from there.

Statistical forecasting can now run directly in simulation mode, so you can explore outcomes without committing upfront. Not happy with the results? Discard all changes in a single click, no scenario setup required. And when you want to repeat the last forecast, a one-click re-run action makes iterative forecasting faster and more user-friendly than ever.
