To combat the global threat of drug counterfeiting pharmaceutical manufacturers are enabling their medical products for verification and tracing by uniquely marking each product pack they produce with a serial number. Likewise, wholesale distributors and dispensers invest in capabilities to manage the data volumes they receive for serialized products, and to enable traceability and verification of individual product packs in their markets.
SAP Information Collaboration Hub for Life Sciences is a SaaS industry network that supports SAP customers to exchange information for serialized pharmaceutical products along the supply chain and with government agencies globally.
SAP Information Collaboration Hub for Life Sciences provides two customer environments, STAGING and PRODUCTION. During customer and business partner onboarding, the staging environment is connected to the customers and their business partners’ test systems. Upon go live the connections are transported into the production environment for productive use.
As a true SaaS, SAP Information Collaboration Hub for Life Sciences releases quarterly updates in a fixed schedule. Each release follows a standardized sequence of events:
- Day x Production Deployment
- Day x-15 Staging Deployment (changed from x-16 with 2208)
- Day x-30 Release Announcement ten working days before Staging deployment

* The deployment for staging release 2311 is planned to be executed three weeks before deployment to production due to original U.S. DSCSA Deadline on Nov. 27. Even though an enforcement discretion was granted by FDA in late August 2023, ICH team decided to keep that schedule. For the new DSCSA deadline in Nov. 2024, ICH will keep a two week STAGING period for 2411 as no new capabilities are planned with that release that may impact U.S. DSCSA capabilities.
