Introduction of the unified SAP Business AI Platform and expansion of partnerships with Anthropic, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft, NVIDIA and Palantir
ORLANDO, Fla. – May 12, 2026 – At the SAP Sapphire customer conference, SAP presented the autonomous company that is intended to optimize central business processes worldwide. The goal is for humans and AI to work together to meet the growing demands of global business activities profitably, strategically and safely.
“When it comes to our customers' business-critical processes, ‘almost right' is not good enough,” said Christian Klein, CEO of SAP SE. “By bringing together the SAP Business AI Platform and the SAP Autonomous Suite, we are embedding AI agents into business processes, data and governance to deliver accurate, compliant and secure results, unlock new revenue streams and enable tangible cost savings.”
The autonomous enterprise includes a unified AI platform to develop, contextualize and control agents, an autonomous suite that runs core business processes, and a user interface that will enable users to work with enterprise software in entirely new ways.
The new SAP Business AI Platform
The SAP Business AI Platform forms a new basis for the development and use of enterprise AI based on real business contexts. It now combines the SAP Business Technology Platform, SAP Business Data Cloud and SAP enterprise AI in a unified, controlled environment.
The core is the SAP Knowledge Graph solution, which provides AI agents with a structured mapping of business entities, processes and relationships in a customer's SAP landscape. Joule Studio is the fully AI-focused SAP solution for developing agents, applications and agent-based workflows in companies. Developers can work with the no-code, pro-code, and AI environment of their choice in an SAP-managed infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and optimized for enterprise AI.
Introduction of the SAP Autonomous Suite in all business areas and industries
SAP also has the SAP Autonomous Suite presented. It expands existing SAP business applications with AI agents that can execute processes independently throughout.
The suite will provide over 50 specialist Joule assistants in finance, supply chain, procurement, people management and customer experience. These assistants automate end-to-end processes by orchestrating the appropriate agents from over 200 specialized agents to carry out specific tasks. The new Autonomous Close Assistant can shorten financial close from weeks to days by automating accounting records, reconciliations and troubleshooting across the entire process.
SAP also introduced Industry AI, expanding its comprehensive industry portfolio to include seven autonomous solutions. They enable consistent industry-specific processes and integrate area-specific logic, data models and regulatory requirements. At SAP Sapphire, SAP presented its collaboration with the European energy company RWE, which can use Industry AI to reduce unplanned downtime in its offshore wind turbines. In the SAP Autonomous Asset Management scenario, AI agents analyze data from thousands of past incidents, determine the probable cause, and create pre-filled work orders using the right tools and proven solutions from other locations.
The new autonomous user interface
SAP also has Joule Work presented – a new approach to working with SAP software. Instead of navigating through individual applications and entering data on different screens, users will now interact directly and primarily with Joule. You describe a desired outcome and Joule will assemble the right combination of workflows, data and agents.
Joule Work goes beyond just a dialogue. It proactively delivers relevant insights and automates routine tasks so work moves forward even when no one is actively controlling. Joule Work will be available on desktop, mobile and via voice in SAP and third-party systems.
Funds of over 100 million euros accelerate the path to becoming an autonomous company
SAP has further developed its customer and partner programs to accelerate customers' journey to becoming an autonomous enterprise. To this end, SAP has launched a fund worth 100 million euros for SAP partners, with which they can support customers in implementing AI assistants and agents developed by SAP. The fund is also available to partners who use Joule Studio to expand or develop partner agents on the new SAP Business AI Platform.
SAP has also expanded its RISE with SAP and SAP GROW offerings to help customers deploy AI more quickly. Both include access to the Joule Assistants portfolio: RISE customers receive three activated assistants in the first year, SAP GROW customers get access to the entire portfolio during onboarding. SAP S/4HANA, on-premise and SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) customers are included: Those who commit to converting the majority of their current system landscape to SAP Cloud ERP will receive access to select AI scenarios. This allows them to close the gap between their current landscape and their cloud destination.
SAP also introduced new agent-assisted transformation tools that can reduce the effort required to migrate ERP systems by more than 35 percent by automating system analysis, code adjustments, configuration and testing at scale.
Finally, SAP announced comprehensive strategic partnerships in the areas of platform, suite and implementation:
- Platform and Suite Partnerships: as part of a cooperation with Anthropic Claude complements the foundation models that SAP will use with its AI platform as the basis for Joule agents in human resources, procurement and supply chains. Amazon Web Services will now offer data integration without copies between SAP Business Data Cloud and Amazon Athena. The partnerships with Google Cloud and Microsoft enable mutual interoperability between Joule and external agent frameworks. Mistral AI and Cohere enable sovereign model options in SAP’s cloud infrastructure. n8n creates the visual orchestration of AI workflows in Joule Studio. NVIDIA will provide a trusted and secure runtime environment for Joule Studio with OpenShell. And the cooperation with Parloa allows the use of AI agents in SAP Service Cloud to handle customer interactions with full access to business data and service processes.
- Implementation partnerships with Palantir and Accenture for complex data migration scenarios as well as with Conduct for AI-supported acceleration of ERP migrations.
