Location master data is one of the key master data objects in Transportation Management and Freight Collaboration within Business Network for Logistics. Proper location master data management ensures accurate mapping between Business Network for Logistics and Transportation Management systems, enabling seamless transportation processes and freight collaboration
Problem Statement
- Manual creation limitations: Creating location master data manually in Freight Collaboration is not feasible when dealing with large numbers of location records
- Maintenance difficulties with large datasets: Manual maintenance becomes difficult and error-prone as the volume of location master records increases
- Naming convention consistency requirements: Location master codes must be identical in both Freight Collaboration and Transportation Management to ensure proper mapping between systems
Recommended Solution
Implementing the Data Replication Framework (DRF) provides automated replication of location master data from TM to Freight Collaboration, eliminating manual creation challenges and ensuring data consistency across systems
Location is a logical or physical place in which products or resources are managed on a quantity basis.
You use this business object as the basis for transportation processes. In transportation processes, you name a source location, a destination location, and any transshipment locations necessary to complete the transportation process. For this purpose, you define locations.

Manage location app is used to manage location master data, which was manually copied or replicated from SAP S/4HANA or created from new using the app Location master data can be used by other apps, such as Manage Entities, in SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration.
We need to create same location master data in SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration which is exist in SAP TM means the naming convention must be same.
Hence it is very difficult to create manually location master data one by one. Hence it would be better to replicate the master data automatically in SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration.
Master Data Replication in SAP TM – Configuration :
To set up master data replication, you must configure the replication of master data via the Data Replication Framework (DRF) in the SAP S/4HANA source system. DRF uses SOAP service – LocationBulkReplicationRequest to replicate location master data from the source system to SAP Business Network for Logistics.

Define Custom Settings for Data Replication > Define Technical Settings > Define Technical Settings for Business Systems
Create a business system using your LBN ID
Select the newly created business system and navigate to Define Bus. System, BOs in the dialog structure.
Enter 189 as the BO type and Location as the description.
Enter 189 as the BO type and Location as the description.
Create a new communication channel called Replication via Services
Tcode – DRFIMG
Define Custom Settings for Data Replication > Define Replication Models
Create a replication model.
Select the newly created replication model and choose Assign Outbound Implementation.
Select the outbound implementation 189_1 and choose Assign Target Systems for Repl. Model / Outb. Impl to assign the target system (identified by its LBN ID – as maintained in the business system) to the outbound implementation.
Optional: If you only want to replicate one default language description, select the outbound implementation and navigate to Assign Language
Choose Activate
Tcode – DRFF (Optional Step)
In the worklist, search for the replication model name you have created in step 2, and define the filter criteria for including or excluding business objects
Tcode – SOAMANAGER
Activate consumer proxy: /SCMB/CO_CPX_LOC_BULK_REPL_REQ . Create a logical port and set it as the default port.
TCODE – DRFOUT
Select the newly created replication model and select the following settings under Replication Mode:
-
To send an update of all locations, select Initialization.
-
To send the lasted changed location, select Changes.
-
If you have defined your own filter criteria, select Manual. The manual replication will either be based on the filter criteria defined in step 3, or be based on the filter that you manually maintained in the DRFOUT transaction.
