#Part 7
In this blog, we will discuss in detail how to provision SAP Datasphere, Data Composer via Business Data Cloud Core.

Prerequisites

  • An active SAP Business Data Cloud subscription with a valid Entitlement System ID.
  • Access to SAP for Me (me.sap.com) with the appropriate provisioning roles.
  • SAP Business Data Cloud Core must be enabled — you will see the confirmation banner on the Applications tab.
  • Sufficient remaining Capacity Units in your contract to allocate to the new solution.

Note: The provisioning wizard is a guided, multi-step flow. Each step must be completed in sequence. You can navigate back using the Previous Step button to revise entries before finalising

Step-by-Step Provisioning Guide

Log in to SAP for Me and navigate to Portfolio & Products > Business Data Cloud. On the Applications tab, you will find all BDC applications that are available for provisioning within your entitlement, including:

  • SAP Analytics Cloud
  • SAP Databricks
  • SAP Datasphere
  • SAP Datasphere, Data Composer
  • SAP HANA Cloud
  • SAP Business Data Cloud Connect
  1. A green confirmation banner confirms that SAP Business Data Cloud Core is enabled, and provisioning can begin. Click Start Provisioning on the SAP Datasphere, Data Composer tile

  2.  In the “Provision SAP Datasphere, Data Composer” dialog that appears, provide details such as Solution Name, Path and Business Type.  The Business Type available by default is ‘Production’

  3. On the Assign Quota page, specify the number of Capacity Units to allocate to the SAP Datasphere, Data Composer instance within this solution.

Note that this quota is not enforced. When the usage approaches the limit, the user defined as the system owner (see below) will be notified by an email. You can use the data composer even if you exceed the assigned capacity units. Billing is always based on actual data composer usage, not the indicated quota.

  4. Input the details in the Configure Parameters. Define the instance-level parameters for SAP Datasphere, Data Composer. Select the Region, give an instance name and select the preset options. The Region dropdown (a mandatory field, indicated by the red asterisk) is open and shows three options:
    Option Meaning
Germany (Preferred) Deploys the Data Composer instance in a German data centre (currently selected)
System Determined Let the system automatically select the optimal region
European Union Deploys within the broader EU region for data residency compliance

  5. As a next step, review them, and then submit the information. Click on Finish.

  6.  A confirmation message informs you that the provisioning request has been sent
  7. Click “View in Resources” to see the tenant within the indicated resource group.
  8. In the Resources tab, the status of the solution is “Processing” and will change to “Ready” once the provisioning is complete
  9. Once the tenant is ready, you will be able to access the tenant from the link under the ‘Resource’ tab and under the tenant details
  10. After the data composer system has been provisioned, you can edit the quota assignment. For instructions, see Editing a Provisioned Application in Product Packages- Provisioning & Integration Dashboard
