The July 2026 release of SAP Business Network for Logistics delivers a set of targeted enhancements across both SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration and SAP Business Network Global Track and Trace. This release focuses on improving data consistency, operational usability, tracking transparency, and process flexibility. As with previous releases, the innovations are designed to reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and strengthen collaboration across logistics networks.

Cross SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration and SAP Business Network Global Track and Trace
New Google Cloud data center available in the US
SAP Business Network for Logistics is now also available on Google Cloud in the United States, expanding hosting options for customers and supporting additional regional deployment requirements.
Business benefit: Customers gain greater flexibility in selecting deployment regions while benefiting from SAP’s continued expansion of cloud infrastructure options.
Data contributors can now indicate when tracking initialization fails
A new event type, TRACK_INIT_ERROR, has been introduced. Data contributors can use this event to indicate that tracking initialization could not be started successfully utilizing ‘Consumer API for Order Tracking (GTT)’ and ‘Consumer API for Order Tracking (FC)’, ‘Provider API for Order Events (GTT)’ and ‘Provider API for Order Events (FC)’.

Freight order updates now include all carrier reference documents after confirmation
To improve data consistency, freight order updates that are sent after a carrier confirmation now contain the complete set of carrier reference documents, including both existing and newly added references. This ensures that all parties work with a consistent and up-to-date document set throughout the transportation process.
Business benefit: Improved synchronization of freight order information reduces the risk of missing reference data and helps ensure consistent execution across connected systems.
Dialogue harmonization in the Manage Gate Operations app
To simplify the user experience, SAP has harmonized the check-in and check-out dialogs in the ‘Manage Gate Operations’ application.
For check-in processing, the ‘Reason Codes’ dropdown has been removed. Similarly, during check-out processing, the reason code selection has been removed and replaced with a more flexible ‘Remarks’ field.
Business benefit: A cleaner and more intuitive user interface reduces complexity for gate operators and supports more consistent data capture.
Enhanced appointment identification logic for dock appointments
The appointment identification logic for dock appointment APIs has been enhanced to improve data integrity and lifecycle management.
When an appointment ID is provided, the system now validates that the appointment exists. If the appointment cannot be found, an error is returned instead of falling back to alternative search logic. When no appointment ID is supplied, the system uses the external appointment ID to either update an existing appointment or create a new one if no match is found.
Business benefit: This enhancement helps prevent duplicate appointments, improves error handling, and strengthens overall appointment data quality.
Greater flexibility for switching between invoicing and self-billing
Shippers can now change the self-billing indicator for existing freight orders through the ‘Define Business Partners’ application in SAP Transportation Management.
This enhancement addresses onboarding and configuration scenarios where organizations initially selected the wrong billing approach and only discovered the issue after productive operations had started. The billing process can now be changed from invoicing to self-billing—or vice versa—provided there are no active follow-on documents, open disputes, or open invoices.
Business benefit: Customers gain greater operational flexibility and can correct billing-process configuration issues without requiring manual data corrections.

Data contributors can now indicate when tracking initialization fails
Above, you learned that a new event type, TRACK_INIT_ERROR, has been introduced and can be shared via API. The event can be configured in the ‘Manage Models’ application by adding the new event type under shipment model field reasonCode and assigning the event as admissible unplanned event to TU, FU, ….
The event is displayed in the event tables of the SAP Business Network Global Track and Trace Fulfillment Tracking applications, allowing users to identify tracking startup issues more quickly.
Business benefit: Increased transparency around tracking failures allows operations teams to identify and resolve issues sooner, reducing blind spots in shipment visibility processes.
Please note: This event type is not visible in the ‘Manage Freight Execution’ app and is not forwarded to TM.
Reporting Party information available in event tables
Users can now display the Reporting Party directly within the event table of the Fulfillment Tracking apps through personal table settings. Additional reporting party details are available through a dedicated information popup.
Business benefit: Improved transparency helps users quickly identify the source of reported events, supporting faster analysis and issue resolution.
Consistent display of one-time locations
One-time locations are now displayed in the same format as locations maintained in the location master. This enhancement applies across Fulfillment Tracking applications, including worklists, event tables, and tracking timelines.
Improved planned technical timestamp calculation
SAP has enhanced the calculation logic for planned technical timestamps by incorporating the default technical tolerance settings more accurately.
Business benefit: Improved timestamp accuracy supports more reliable event evaluation and tracking processes.
