SAP Asset Performance Management 2608 is a release about reducing friction – the kind that builds up quietly over time and slows down the work that matters. Rules that had to be manually recreated in every tenant. Recommendations that took too many clicks to action. Assessments that were hard to revisit as conditions changed. Guidance that lived outside the product when users needed it most. This release addresses each of those pain points directly, with changes that reliability engineers and maintenance planners will notice from day one.

Before we start, I'd like to mention a few interesting things:

An active SAP Learning Hub license is required – find more information about registration for the onsite or online sessions here.
  • We've also updated our ongoing innovation overview (formerly Stay Current), a curated guide to recent SAP APM innovations. It combines feature one-pagers with direct links to supporting enablement materials, including Help Portal documentation, videos, blogs, and other useful resources. Now, let's take a closer look at SAP APM 2608.

Asset Reliability Engineering

Reassess RCM Assessments

What if revisiting a released RCM assessment was as straightforward as starting a new one – with all the history preserved and all the valid work carried forward automatically?

With this release, a formal reassessment process is now available for Reliability-Centred Maintenance assessments in SAP APM.

Challenge

Reliability-Centred Maintenance assessments are not a one-time exercise. Asset conditions change, new failures emerge in the field, and validity periods expire – but until now there was no formal way to update a released assessment while preserving its history.

Solution

A new Reassess action creates a new editable version of the assessment, carrying forward all valid content automatically. A summary dialogue flags anything that needs attention before proceeding, and the previous version remains active until the new one is released.

A Released Rcm Assessment Record With The &Amp;Quot;Reassess&Amp;Quot; Button Highlighted

This gives customers:

  • Continuous lifecycle management – assessments stay current as conditions evolve
  • Full audit trail across versions with automatic version transitions
  • Valid recommendations carry forward automatically – no manual rebuilding

Assign Task Lists to Multiple Recommendations Simultaneously

What if assigning the same task list to dozens of recommendations after an RCM or FMEA analysis took a single action instead of many repetitive clicks?

With this release, maintenance planners can now assign task lists to multiple recommendations at once directly from the Implement Recommendations list page.

Challenge

After an RCM or FMEA analysis, assigning task lists meant opening each recommendation individually and repeating the same steps every time – a pain point flagged directly by customers.

Solution

A new bulk Assign Task List action lets planners select multiple recommendations and assign one or more task lists to all of them in a single operation. Delta logic skips any task lists already assigned, so duplicates are never created.

Three Rcm Recommendations In &Amp;Quot;Implementation In Process&Amp;Quot; Status Selected Simultaneously, With The &Amp;Quot;Assign Task Lists&Amp;Quot; Button Highlighted To Assign Task Lists To All Of Them In One Action.

This gives customers:

  • Significantly less manual effort after RCM or FMEA analysis
  • No duplicate assignments – delta logic handles existing assignments automatically
  • Clear feedback on every bulk operation

For full details, see Assigning Task Lists to Multiple Recommendations on the SAP Help Portal.

Extended Consolidation Support for Recommendations

What if you could consolidate recommendations regardless of whether they have maintenance data attached, come from different sources, or sit at different version numbers?

With this release, the recommendation consolidation capability introduced in 2604 is significantly extended to cover a much broader range of real-world recommendation sets.

Challenge

Until. now, recommendation consolidation worked under a narrow set of conditions. Recommendations with maintenance plans, task lists, or rules attached could not be consolidated. Neither could recommendations from different assessment sources, or those at different version numbers. For teams managing large and complex recommendation backlogs, these restrictions meant the feature was rarely usable in practice.

Solution

Two hard restrictions from the original 2604 implementation are now removed. Recommendations containing maintenance plans, task lists, or rules can now be consolidated – if maintenance data is present, it is automatically reassigned from the source recommendation to the new consolidated recommendation. Also, assessment-based recommendations can now be consolidated together with standalone recommendations, with the assessment-based recommendation always taking the leading role.

Version management during consolidation is also handled automatically. When reassessed recommendations are consolidated, the selected version transitions to Consolidated and the previous version is set to Obsolete – keeping recommendation history clean without manual intervention.

A &Amp;Quot;Consolidated Recommendation Details&Amp;Quot; Dialog Showing The Resulting Consolidated Recommendation And Its 2 Source Recommendations, With A Warning That Existing Maintenance Data Will Be Relinked,This gives customers:

  • Broader consolidation coverage across recommendation types and versions
  • Fewer open duplicate or overlapping recommendations
  • Version history stays clean automatically

Transport Rules Across Tenants*

What if the rules you validated in your quality system could be moved to production in a single operation – with no manual recreation and no risk of configuration drift?

With this release, SAP APM introduces a transport mechanism to move rules and data sets directly between tenants. (*This feature is currently available with Early Adopter Access)

Challenge

Rules built and validated in a quality or development tenant had to be recreated by hand in production – introducing the risk of configuration mistakes and rule logic drifting between environments.

Solution

A new transport mechanism allows rules and data sets to be exported from one tenant and imported into another, ensuring identical rule logic across all tenants after a single validation cycle.

A List Of Rcm Monitoring Rules With The &Amp;Quot;Transport&Amp;Quot; Button Highlighted, Allowing Selected Rules To Be Transported Across System Landscapes.

This gives customers:

  • Rapid rollout of validated rules after a single quality check
  • Consistent rule logic across all environments
  • Fewer configuration mistakes by eliminating manual recreation

For full details, see Transport of Rules on the SAP Help Portal. For information about early access, refer to Getting Early Adopter Access to New Features and Functions.

General

Product Guidance Videos Now Available in SAP Companion

What if the video guidance you needed was right there in the product – relevant to the screen you are on, without opening a browser tab or searching YouTube?

With this release, task-focused guidance videos are now available directly inside SAP Companion, the in-app help panel in SAP APM.

Challenge

When users needed help, they could not find video help directly in the application, instead having to search externally for help.

Solution

Guidance videos (where available) are now embedded in SAP Companion, context-aware to the screen you are on. Videos are organised by business capability and coverage will expand with every release.

This gives customers:

  • Task-focused video guidance without leaving SAP APM
  • Context-aware help surfaced to the screen they are on
  • Expanding coverage with every release
