Chemical industry relevant key enhancements in 2602 Cloud ERP release were covered in two blogs (Check details from 1st Blog and 2nd Blog).  

I will cover in detail chemical industry relevant key enhancements and functionalities / capabilities as released in 2608 Cloud ERP in two blogs. This 1st blog will cover enhancements in Asset Management, Product Compliance and in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS).

Considering Asset intensive operations and requirements to execute safe and compliant maintenance activities (in the industry) following key enhancements aid in asset management and related maintenance activities:

• Permit to Work (7Z4) capability (introduced in 2602 release) has been enhanced with following new functionalities:
  • With Collaborative Approval Workflow the work permit can be reviewed and approved by authorized personnel from the operations and safety.
  • Maintenance planners and supervisors can verify, and view work permits as assigned to a Maintenance Order. These (work permits) can be accessed through new Permit tab in Maintenance Order apps like Change Maintenance Order or Display Maintenance Order.
• Asset Overview (intuitive Fiori application introduced in 2602 release) provides a comprehensive perspective / access to enterprise asset hierarchy (equipment and functional location details etc.). 2608 release enhances this app with following new capabilities:
  • New thumbnail (picture) view for better identification of the asset
  • Create emergency and minor work notifications in context of the selected equipment or functional location
  • New tabs to quickly access active maintenance plans, review associated bill of materials, and manage attachments such as technical drawings or manuals for selected equipment or functional location

It is essential for Chemical industry to identify, analyse, evaluate, and manage operational risks / hazards to environment, health, and safety. This entails risk assessments and including job hazard analysis (JHA), Chemical (Substances) approval and management of Hazardous substances inventories.

With 2608 Cloud ERP release capability to maintain (and view) an accurate record of Hazardous Substances inventories that are used, handled, manufactured, or stored at any location in a company has been Introduced. This is enabled through following two new apps – Maintain Hazardous Substance Inventory and View Hazardous Substance Inventory. Additionally, you can get an overview of all hazardous substances at a selected location in View My Workplace Safety App. Scope item 54A has been updated / enhanced to support these capabilities,

Chemical manufacturing involves processing and storage of hazardous substances. Hence for workers working in a chemical manufacturing plant assessing health hazards and defining corresponding health protocols to ensure protection from illness and unsafe situation (or condition) is required.

In 2608 Cloud ERP release Occupational Health (introduced in 2602 release) capabilities have been enhanced to support (ad-hoc) health service requests. These capabilities include following:

• Create and Maintain health protocols (standardized set of procedures designed to address specific medical or health-related situations) for the employees of your company. These protocols can be required by legislation or as per internal policies. To cover these protocols health service types (like consultation) and related health service items (tests) can be defined (Manage occupational health protocols app)
• With Manage Health Center Appointments app define and schedule (occupational) health related appointments at a health center and include health service requests (types) that should be performed. Also, can assign required health protocols and / or health service items that should be covered.
• Create and edit health service requests (employee healthcare tasks) with new app Manage Health Service Requests. For a health service request, you can refine the assigned health protocols and/or health service items.
• Get an overview of all employees’ health center appointments using new app Monitor Health Center Appointments
• Scope item 7ZA has been updated / enhanced to support these capabilities

Chemical companies need to manage chemical compliance for their products, classify products according to dangerous goods regulations, and create safety data sheets and labels according to regulations and requirements.

To support / comply with above stated compliance requirements, Product compliance capabilities in 2608 Cloud ERP has been enhanced with following new functionalities:

• In 2602 Cloud ERP release – Dangerous goods classification process was enhanced to support the classification of multi-component products (which consist of two or more compliance-relevant components that are sold together as a single product).
• In 2608 Cloud ERP, Extended support to multi-component products for dangerous good processes in the value chain has been enabled with following capabilities:
  • Transport permission and mixed-loading check for multi-component products in processes such as sales, transportation, and delivery
  • Population of dangerous goods information in documents such as sales order confirmation, delivery note, specific declaration, etc
• For Chemical enterprises involved in complex logistics like multi-stop deliveries, maintaining compliance at every (delivery) stage is critical. To ensure this, Dangerous Goods Information for the Value Chain app has been enhanced with new, optional “Select a Stage” step for multi-stop deliveries. The app also supports multi-component products.
