Greetings, SAP Community! π
We are back with the latest What's New updates for SAP Profitability and Performance Management Cloud Standard Model. This round of improvements covers a lot of ground β and if you work with Joule, Modeling, or Process Management on a regular basis, you will likely feel the difference.
Joule keeps growing β it now covers two more application screens. The Properties panel in Modeling opens the moment you select a node. You can delete process run data without removing the instance itself. And notification preferences have gotten a lot more specific. Whether you spend most of your time in Environment, Process Management, or Modeling, this update has something for you. Here is what has changed π’
Joule
Joule Now Available in Environment and Process Management
Until now, business users could make use of Joule to help them with their reports. With this enhancement, Joule assistance is no longer limited to Report Management. Now Joule also supports the Environment and Process Management applications.
Imagine asking Joule about pending process activities, cloning last month's process instance, and checking your environment setup. That is now possible. More than that, Joule in Standard Model can provide information and perform supported actions across all three applications β you donβt need to navigate to a specific application before asking.
In the Environment application, Joule can provide information about existing environments and nodes. Use Act mode to create, edit, move, or delete them through conversation. Joule asks for your confirmation before performing irreversible actions such as deletion.
In Process Management, Joule covers process templates, instances, activities, parameters, and selections. In Act mode, you can create a new process instance from a template β including custom selections and parameters in a single instruction β or clone an existing instance as the basis for a new run. You can also edit existing process instances and activities.
For more information about Joule and its capabilities in SAP Profitability and Performance Management Standard Model, see Joule in Environment and Joule in Process Management in the SAP Help Portal.
For a detailed walkthrough and examples, see SAP PaPM Cloud Standard Model β Joule AI Agent: Environment and Process Management Capabilities.
Ask Joule What You Can Do and How
Finding out what is available on a given screen β and how to use it β often means leaving the application to search the SAP Help Portal manually. That is no longer the case.
Joule now draws on built-in documentation from the SAP Help Portal for SAP Profitability and Performance Management Cloud Standard Model. You can ask Joule what actions are available on a screen, how to perform them, and which roles are required β and get step-by-step answers that reference the actual UI elements and flows.
Note
This capability is currently available for the following applications:
- Environment
- Process Management
- Report Management
For more information about Joule and its capabilities in SAP Profitability and Performance Management Standard Model, see Joule in Standard Model in the SAP Help Portal.
Track Joule Conversation from Creation to Deletion
If you use the Application Monitor or Process Monitor to review system events, you can now identify actions performed on Joule conversations more easily.
Three new run types are available:
- Joule Conversation Creation: Logged when a conversation with Joule is initiated.
- Joule Conversation Renaming: Logged when a Joule conversation is renamed.
- Joule Conversation Deletion: Logged when a Joule conversation is deleted.
Dedicated run types help you quickly identify and review Joule conversation activities in your monitoring screens.
For more information, see Event Status and Run Types, Application Monitor, and Process Monitor in the SAP Help Portal.
System – AI Conversation Monitor
Review Action Results Directly on the Screen
When managing Joule conversations, it is helpful to see the outcome of an action where you perform it. While toast messages provide quick feedback, it is also important to have those actions recorded and available for later review.
With this enhancement, the Message Log in the AI Conversation Monitor now displays the results of upload, download, and delete actions, allowing you to review the results directly where the actions are performed.
When you need additional details, you can also review the events logged in the Application Monitor. These events are recorded under the following run types:
- Joule Conversation Upload
- Joule Conversation Download
- Joule Conversation Deletion
Together, the Message Log and Application Monitor help you review action results and access the corresponding monitoring records when needed.

Modeling
Properties Open Automatically in Modeling
Imagine you're working through a model and reviewing mappings and configuration settings. As you move between a Model Table, a Calculation function, and Process Templates, accessing its settings requires two separate actions: selecting the node and opening the Properties panel.
With this enhancement, the Properties panel opens automatically when you select a node in the Modeling area. Whether you're reviewing a field, updating a parameter, or configuring a function, the relevant settings are available right away.
The same behavior applies when you:
- Add a node from the palette
- Copy and paste a node
- Select a node from the modeling search results
If the Properties panel is already open, it automatically updates to display the settings of the newly selected node.
This makes it easier to review configuration details across connected modeling functions and stay focused on understanding and refining your model.
Manage Fields Directly in “From” Rules
When configuring the From rules in Join and Model Join functions, you often need to review or adjust how fields are assigned between join rule types. With this enhancement, you can now view and maintain these assignments directly in the Fields section of the Properties panel.
This makes it easier to validate the structure of your join results while configuring the model.
For more information, see Join Rule Types in the SAP Help Portal.
Expand Your Result Model Table Options with Model Table HANA
You can now select a Model Table HANA function in the Result Model Table of supported processing functions.
Previously, Model Table HANA functions were not available as result model table options. With this enhancement, you can choose a Model Table HANA function as the result destination for Allocation, Calculation, Derivation, Transfer Structure, Join, View, and Iterative View functions.
Instead of introducing an additional function to store results, you can define the target table directly in the processing function configuration, giving you more control over how and where your model results are stored.
For more information, see Use Model Table HANA as Result Model Table.
Process Management
Delete Process Data Without Deleting Process Instances
Sometimes, you want to remove the results of a process run without removing the process instance itself. For example, you may no longer need the generated data, but you still want to keep the process instance available for monitoring, auditing, or just for future reference.
With this enhancement, you can now use the new Delete Process Data action in Process Management to delete process-related data generated by functions assigned to execution activities in one or more selected process instances while the selected instances are retained.
The new Delete Process Data action is available in the Edit section of Process Management.
Sample Scenario
Consider a process instance that has already been run and generated process data. Before using Delete Process Data, the generated process data is available in the system. After the action, the process data generated is deleted, while the process instance remains available in Process Management.
Confirmation Before Deletion
Before the deletion starts, the system displays a confirmation dialog so you can review and confirm the action.
Additional Option for Deleting Process Instances
You also have more flexibility when deleting process instances. The enhanced Delete Process Instance action now includes an Also delete associated process data option.
This option lets you choose whether to:
- delete only the selected process instances; or
- delete both the selected process instances and their associated process data in a single step.

Receive Notifications for Due Activities
Keeping track of upcoming activities is important when actions must be completed before a deadline.
With this enhancement, you can receive both in-app and email notifications 3 days before an activity's due date and again on the due date itself. The due date is determined based on the activity's end date.
Sample In-App Notifications for Due Process Activities
Notifications are sent when a process instance is in the Deployed state, and the associated activities have not yet been completed. Both activity performers and reviewers can receive these reminders. Email notifications include a direct link to the relevant activity, allowing you to access the activity and take the required action.
This improves the visibility of pending process activities and helps you stay informed about upcoming deadlines.
For more information, see Notifications and Dual Control in the SAP Help Portal.
User Profile
Notification Preferences by Type and Environment
Notifications help you stay informed about changes across your environment, but the notifications you want to receive may differ depending on your role and responsibilities.
Previously, notification preferences could only be managed by notification channel, allowing you to activate or deactivate In-App and Email notifications.
With this enhancement, you can now configure notification preferences for individual notification types when your administrator allows users to manage those settings.
There are two parts to the new experience.
First, choose your notification types
In Notification Types, you can set your in-app and email preferences separately for:
- Activity changes
- Process changes
- Scheduled jobs
- Team changes
- Private environment changes
Your administrator still determines which settings you can manage. If a setting has been predefined by your administrator, its checkbox is not editable.
Second, choose the environment scope
In Environments, you can decide where your notification settings apply:
- All environments
- Selected environments
- All environments except the ones you specify
Any notification settings configured by your administrator are not affected by the environment settings you choose.
Together, these options give you more control over your personal notification preferences while still respecting the settings managed by your administrator.
