The latest version of SAP Business One Web Client 10.0 FP 2608 introduces a powerful enhancement to User-Defined Values: you can now assign a UDV to a specific field even when multiple fields share the same label.
Background: In SAP Business One Web Client, it's common for two or more controls to sit under a single label or section header – for example, Email and Fax checkboxes in Business Partner form. Until now, if you wanted to assign a UDV to one of those fields, it was not possible since the system couldn't clearly indicate which field had the assignment – the orange brackets [] used as the UDV indicator were placed at the label level, so when multiple fields shared that label, there was no way to tell which one was actually linked to a UDV.
To fully support such case, we redesigned the indicator. The orange brackets have been replaced with a dedicated new icon – a standard Fiori icon that intuitively signals a value has been customized by the user.
With this new icon design:
– The icon is placed next to each individual field, not at the label level
– In object edit mode, the icon appears as greyed-out, serving as a non-interactive visual indicator that the field is linked to a UDV
– In UDV edit mode, the same icon turns blue, indicating it's clickable, so you can access and modify the UDV definition
Example:
When you enter Business Partner Edit mode, you will see the following icons appearance :
The ‘Sales Employees’ field as well as ‘Email’ and ‘Fax’ checkboxes are defined with UDV.
When you enter UDV Edit mode, you will see the following icons appearance:
Since ‘Remarks' has no UDV defined yet, you’ll see a special icon, blue pencil, so when clicking it, you can create a UDV for it.
You can toggle the UDV indicator visibility in your user profile settings under the Display UDV Indicator option.
Note that this switch applies only for Edit mode – no indication in View mode.
