Starting with SAP S/4HANA 2025 FPS02, substitution attributes can be configured individually for different consuming applications and controlled for both the Fiori app and planning services.

Why Configurable Attributes?

Different organizations use Product Interchangeability for different business scenarios.

For example:

  • A company using Product Interchangeability exclusively for Advanced Available-to-Promise (aATP) may not require planning-specific attributes.
  • A service parts planning organization may need fields relevant only for eSPP.
  • Certain attributes may be controlled through services and should therefore be restricted from user maintenance on the app

Configurable attributes provide flexibility to address these requirements through customization

Supported Configurable Attributes for Customizing

The following fields are available for configuration:

  • Warning Date
  • Realignment End Date
  • Stock Exhaustion Date
  • Successor Product Planning Date
  • Successor Product Receipt Date
  • Numerator for Conversion
  • Denominator for Conversion
  • Percentage
  • Use-Up Strategy
  • Use-Up Date
  • Final Date

Configuration

For each consuming application, users can configure attributes. The configuration is available at: IMG Path: IMG/Cross-Application Components/Advanced Available-to-Promise (aATP)/Product Interchangeability/Configure Supersession Chain Attributes

Maintainability Options

For each attribute, one of the following maintenance settings can be defined at both global and location specific level for a unique application relevancy combination.

Field Maintenance: Yes

The field is editable through:

  • Fiori applications
  • Planning services

Field Maintenance: No

The field is hidden and unavailable for maintenance through both channels.

Field Maintenance: Display Only

The field:

  • Is visible on the Fiori UI
  • Cannot be edited through the UI
  • Can still be maintained through planning services

Example: Suppose the Percentage field should remain visible but not editable for aATP-relevant collections.

In this case, experts can configure the field as Display Only at both global and location-specific attribute levels

The field appears as display-only in the Fiori application, as shown below.

Note: By default, all attributes are fully maintainable through the Fiori application and planning services

Conclusion

Configurable attributes allow organizations to simplify data maintenance, improve governance, and ensure that users only interact with fields relevant to their responsibilities
