At the beginning of the year, SAP with SAP ERP, private edition, transition option announced a new cloud sub-script offer. It is intended to help our largest and most complex customers plan and carry out their switch to the cloud.

Since these first announcements in February and March, we have received positive feedback from the SAP community.

Today we announce further details about this offer so that our customers and partners can better assess whether it is possible for you as part of Rise with SAP. In addition, we would like to point out that customers who can subscribe to a new instance of SAP ERP, private edition – or have already done this in 2025 – can benefit from a special action for SAP ERP, private edition, transition option.

Rise with SAP: Adjust your transformation to modernize your company with the SAP Business Suite

What is SAP ERP, private edition, transition option?

As part of Rise With SAP, many companies on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition are increasing to modernize their processes and remain competitive. We are aware that our largest and most complex SAP ERP customers may not be able to complete this transformation until the extended maintenance for your installed SAP Business Suite 7 expires in 2030.

To support these customers, SAP has introduced the SAP ERP, private edition, transition option. This is a temporary subscription offer, which should ensure business continuity from 2031 to 2033 and at the same time enable a structured switch to SAP Cloud ERP or SAP Cloud ERP.

The offer includes an SAP-ERP-Cloud sub-script for certain products. The focus is on SAP ERP Central Component on SAP HANA. The offer is combined with services, which should facilitate the transition to Rise with SAP using the maximum service plan (generally available in January 2026). Customers can concentrate on the establishment and optimization of their new and future system landscape. Business Continuity Services cover aspects such as legal changes, security patches and troubleshooting. Which products are covered with the offer is in SAP note 3591251 described in detail.

Important prerequisites for the use of this offer

For the use of SAP ERP, private edition, transition option, some requirements must be met:

  1. Change to SAP ERP, private edition: Systems must be migrated to SAP HANA on SAP ERP by December 31, 2030 at the latest. SAP strongly recommends that this changeover to be carried out and start preparing the systems. The additional requirements listed below should be taken into account.
  2. Required database: SAP HANA will be the only supported database for this offer.
  3. System size: At least 2 TB for systems that are subscribed to as part of SAP ERP, private edition, transition option.
  4. Technical requirements: The systems must be prepared for the transition option. For products that are not part of the new option, damage reduction cover is necessary. You can find more information in the SAP note 3591251.
  5. Maximum service plan: The transition option is only offered from 2031 to 2033 – in combination with the maximum service plan, including additional transformation services. This service plan will be generally available from January 2026.

Set the course now

Now the time is to be acted. If your company is expected to take more time from 2030 to switch to SAP Cloud ERP or SAP Cloud ERP private, it is important to take the first step in 2025. Here you can find out why:

  • Secure the advantages of the 2025 campaign: Customers who register for SAP ERP, private edition by the end of 2025 (start date not later than 2026) are entitled to a 1-1 switch to SAP ERP, private edition, transition option in 2031. This means a significant financial advantage and calculable costs for long -term planning.
  • Win valuable lead time for the preparation of your systems and teams: If your company now switches to SAP ERP, private edition, the technical requirements – such as migration to SAP HANA and the removal of non -supported technologies such as Java – can be created at a feasible pace. In addition, their teams have enough time to coordinate the goals of the transformation among themselves and to prepare them internally.
  • Reduce the risk with a gradual, structured transformation: If you start now, you benefit from a more smooth change: First the switch to SAP ERP, private edition, then the use of the transition option and finally the introduction of SAP Cloud ERP or SAP Cloud ERP private. This step -by -step approach largely avoids disorders and continuous business is ensured.
  • Secure the right to the transition option: The transition option is only available to customers who have switched their systems to SAP ERP, private edition by the end of 2030. Anyone who acts now ensures that their company fulfills this requirement.

Most of our customers who want to complete their transformation by 2030 will not need the transition option. The option is intended for those who need additional time and support due to their complex systems.
