Walldorf and Redwood City (California) March 27, 2026 SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) plans to acquire Reltio Inc., a leading provider of master data management (MDM) software. The two companies announced the signing of a corresponding contract today. Reltio’s technology is designed to help SAP customers make all corporate data AI-ready, regardless of whether it is maintained in SAP or third-party applications. Details of the takeover were not disclosed.

After the acquisition is completed, Reltio will strengthen the SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC) – an integral part of SAP’s strategy to prominently anchor artificial intelligence in its core products. The company is accelerating the development of SAP BDC into a fully interoperable enterprise data platform for company-wide agentic AI. It is designed to give customers the tools they need to unify, cleanse and harmonize data from different sources to enable high-quality enterprise-wide agentic AI.

“Reltio is a natural fit for SAP,” said Muhammad Alam, SAP SE Board Member for Product & Engineering. “The acquisition will further enhance our position as a leading business AI provider by enabling us to combine SAP and non-SAP data to provide the data context that high-quality business AI requires. Artificial intelligence cannot achieve its full potential when data is distributed across business units, platforms and domains, without connection to each other or without the necessary context.”

By integrating Reltio, SAP aims to make its customers’ corporate data fully AI-ready after the transaction is completed. Customers will be able to rely on trusted, high-quality data across SAP and non-SAP sources leveraging Joule and Joule agents to deliver faster time to value for Business AI.

Reltio’s platform helps organizations comprehensively manage and control structured and unstructured corporate data. The company’s AI-based technology identifies and merges related data sets from different formats and applications into a reliable “golden record”, including the respective contexts of the data. Their cloud-native and AI-native design supports a unified, consistent view of customers, products, suppliers, locations and employees across SAP and non-SAP applications. Customers running AI analytics should benefit from increased reliability and consistency of data, bundled in a unified source, significantly improving the quality of business AI. Customers can be confident that AI results are accurate and AI interactions quickly show comprehensive results.

“The merger with SAP offers us a very good opportunity to achieve our goal more quickly,” said Manish Sood, founder and CEO of Reltio. “Enterprise AI requires trusted context that works openly and interoperably across the heterogeneous IT landscapes our customers operate. This combination accelerates our ability to deliver Reltio as a context system across SAP and non-SAP environments, while maintaining continuity for our customers and our partner ecosystem.”

Reltio’s data cleansing and unification capabilities and agent-driven workflows, in collaboration with SAP Business Suite applications, will deliver consistent and trusted data critical to successful business processes and AI usage. This helps improve decisions and reduce the complexity of integrations. Reltio’s technology enables rapid response times and supports the Model Context Protocol (which MCP standardizes how AI applications and large language models (LLMs) can access external data sources, tools and services). By using trusted, real-time data, Reltio enables real-time, multi-agent workflows across SAP and non-SAP environments. AI agents, such as procurement agents, can use this to assess supplier risks and, if necessary, trigger appropriate countermeasures.

Reltio offers pre-built, industry-specific “velocity packs” that include data models, rules, matching logic and integrations, as well as solutions tailored to sectors such as life sciences, healthcare and financial services.

Following the completion of the transaction, SAP aims to improve its customers’ ability to manage and deliver master data as trusted and context-rich data products across multiple sources by integrating Reltio. These are intended to serve both traditional analysis workloads and AI agents. Reltio is to be expanded into a core function within SAP BDC. A flexible business model should enable customers to use Reltio as a separate solution or together with other SAP products. The Reltio portfolio will remain available as a standalone offering for the foreseeable future.

The transaction is expected to close in Q2 or Q3/2026, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
