Print Template Determination

In the blog What's new in SAP Logistics Management – SAP Community Nadine had last covered about the functionality on Printing of Loading Lists. The App details can be found in the standard help document Manage Pickups and Deliveries | SAP Help Portal

Further, the Print Templates can be defined using the app “Manage Print Templates” Manage Print Templates | SAP Help Portal. While Templates starting with /SAP/ are the default templates custom templates can also be built. You can refer to the detailed blogs from Pascal on this topic

In this Blog, I will cover the logic on the determination of the Print template and the new feature on that topic. To configure the logic, you would need to follow the steps below:

  1. Access the application “Define Processing Rules” within the setup of SAP LGM

  1. Navigate to the business Rule “PRINT_TEMPLATE_RULESET_FOR_TRANSPORT_V1”

  1. Set the Rule set / condition for printer template determination.

To define which print template gets selected during the business operation SAP LGM allows setting up conditions / rules for selection. These are based on the parameters below:

Parameter

Type

Description

Example

Document Type

Input

The document type

LL

Shipping Process

Input

The identifier of the shipping process

DLT

Source Country/Region

Input

The identifier of the source country or region

DE

The same has been mentioned in the SAP help link Defining Print Template Determination for Transportation | SAP Help Portal

As part of the new innovations within SAP LGM a new parameter has been allowed. This new parameter is based on the carrier communication language. Thus, when you print transportation documents such as the loading list, the system now takes the carrier's communication language into account to determine the correct print template.

The carrier communication language is derived from the carrier's business partner master data that is maintained within the SAP Private Cloud. The communication language is then replicated within SAP LGM during the BP replication.

This condition for printer template determination is then defined within the “Define Processing Rules app” Define Processing Rules | SAP Help Portal. Kindly note that the communication language value is case-sensitive (for example, en, de, or zh_CN).

As an example, the below screenshot shows the loading list Print Template condition in case of “DE” Language and Source Country as “DE”.

We then maintain the communication language as “German” in the Carrier and replicate the BP into SAP LGM.

The Loading List is created in German Language. This can be seen within the PickupDelivery Document as in the below screenshot.

To further validate the condition, we can modify the language in the Business partner to “English” and check the same PickupDelivery Document.

The Loading list is then updated to English Language.

As a prerequisite, please ensure to schedule a BP replication so that latest BP updates are reflected from the Private Cloud system to the LGM system.

The updates to the condition are mentioned in the Whats New Viewer (What's New Viewer for SAP Logistics Management | SAP Help Portal)

Hope the explanations help you in your configurations for the printing within LGM. Kindly feel free to reach out in case of any queries.
