Walldorf, Germany and San Francisco, USA — August 1, 2025 — SAP (NYSE: SAP) and SmartRecruiters today announced that SAP has signed an agreement to acquire SmartRecruiters, a leading provider of talent acquisition (TA) software.
SmartRecruiter's expertise and applications for automated processes in recruiting and intuitive, AI-supported user interfaces are considered an ideal complement to the SAP Suite for HR processes (SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite). The proposed acquisition is intended to strengthen SAP's comprehensive HCM suite and provide customers with the tools they need to attract and retain top talent in an increasingly competitive environment.
SmartRecruiter's powerful, user-friendly interfaces and simple workflows are designed to complement SAP's robust HR suite: improving hiring decision-making, reducing time to hire, and providing candidates with a compelling software experience. Embedded analytics and AI-powered recommendations from SAP and SmartRecruiters provide valuable insights into talent pools, avoid bottlenecks in the hiring process and improve workforce planning.
“Hiring the right talent isn't just important for HR – it's a top priority for companies as a whole. With the proposed acquisition, we will help our customers attract the best people and implement their talent acquisition strategies quickly, agilely and efficiently – while reducing the overall cost of running the software,” said Muhammad Alam, Member of the Board of Directors of SAP. “Customers will be able to manage the entire candidate lifecycle – from approach and interview to onboarding and beyond – in a single system, simplifying the process for recruiters, managers and especially candidates.”
Customers should receive advanced, AI-powered functions for the recruiting and hiring process that make applicant tracking and candidate selection more efficient. Data-based hiring and recruiting analyzes should flow directly into SAP's existing HCM tools, thereby forming an integrated system with harmonized data for compliant and smooth processes. In addition, the SmartRecruiters portfolio will remain available as a standalone solution for the foreseeable future.
SmartRecruiters' software-as-a-service solutions and platform enable more than 4,000 organizations worldwide to efficiently manage their hiring processes from start to finish – while providing a compelling experience for recruiters, managers and candidates.
Rebecca Carr, CEO of SmartRecruiters, said: “Our mission has always been to make hiring easy. Joining forces with SAP is a great opportunity for companies worldwide to benefit from our industry-leading approach to talent acquisition. I look forward to the opportunities this proposed acquisition presents for our customers, partners and employees and to working together to shape the future of talent acquisition.”
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. The commercial details of the transaction were not disclosed. JP Morgan acted as exclusive financial advisor to SmartRecruiters.
