SAP NEWSBYTE July 8, 2026 — Thüringer Energie AG (TEAG) has successfully completed its cloud transformation. The company has SAP S/4HANA Utilities, SAP Service Cloud Version 2 and the SAP Market Communication for Utilities successfully introduced. The new system landscape is complemented by solutions such as the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and the SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC). With the go-live, TEAG is creating the basis for more efficient processes, greater automation and the use of artificial intelligence.

The focus of the project was the goal of bringing together network, sales and market communication processes in an integrated architecture and consistently driving forward the company's digital transformation. With the successful completion of the transformation, TEAG is reaching an important milestone on the way to becoming a future-proof energy supplier and at the same time strengthening its ability to meet the requirements of the energy transition flexibly and efficiently.

By switching to SAP S/4HANA Utilities, central business processes become more transparent, more efficient and can be controlled more quickly. The new platform enables an integrated view of processes and data along the entire value chain, creating the basis for well-founded decisions and higher operational performance. Customer interaction has also been modernized: With SAP Service Cloud Version 2, TEAG will be able to make service processes even more customer-oriented and flexible in the future. At the same time, regulatory market communication is standardized and handled efficiently via SAP Market Communication for Utilities – an important factor in an increasingly complex and dynamic market environment.

With the SAP Business Technology Platform as an integration and innovation layer, TEAG creates the basis for a networked, adaptable IT landscape and its continuous development. The SAP Business Data Cloud also supports a uniform data foundation on which future data-driven processes and AI applications can be built. The result is a modern, scalable and significantly less complex system landscape with consistent end-to-end processes. In this way, TEAG is laying a digital foundation to strengthen its competitiveness in the long term and to actively shape the energy transition.

“The integration of sales processes and energy industry case and service management with market communication on a common platform creates consistent data flows and significantly higher data quality,” says Philipp Lübcke, Head of IT at TEAG. “The project at TEAG shows how energy suppliers can comprehensively modernize their IT platform in sales and service and also introduce innovative processes.”

“Energy suppliers today are faced with the challenge of managing regulatory requirements, customer service and the energy transition at the same time,” says Kim Maren Ekrutt, Global VP & Co-Head IBU Utilities, SAP. “TEAG shows how an integrated cloud platform brings together processes, data and market communication, thereby creating the basis for data-driven innovation and the future use of AI.”
