SAP Newsbyte – May 27, 2025 – The SAP Today announced that the chemical company BASF started digital transformation with the introduction of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition.
As a long-standing SAP customer, BASF uses a hybrid system landscape to integrate SAP S/4HANA Cloud into its extensive existing IT infrastructure and at the same time reduce the complexity of on-premise operation. With a Clean-Core strategy, all new adjustments and functional extensions are implemented from the start cloud-enabled to simplify maintenance and operation in the long term.
BASF opted for SAP S/4HANA Cloud to ensure access to innovations in the areas of artificial intelligence and sustainability. The first new system based on SAP S/4HANA Cloud is already productive. After complete implementation, BASF will benefit from optimized processes, real-time data knowledge, improved decision-making functions and flexibility, to quickly adapt to changed market requirements.
In addition, BASF recently activated the digital assistant Joule in SAP SUCCESSFACTORS solutions for initial applications and is currently examining further possible uses within the core processes.
“We are proud to work with BASF on this transformative way,” said Thomas Saueressig, member of the SAP SE, Customer Services & Delivery. “With SAP S/4HANA Cloud, BASF laid a solid basis for future growth and innovations. The use of a clean core in combination with standardized processes provides BASF the necessary agility and resilience to successfully act in the dynamic business environment.”
