SAP NEWSBYTE — March 2, 2026 – The SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced the creation of a new board of directors, Customer Value Group, combining Customer Success and Customer Services & Delivery, effective April 1.
The newly created board area aims to further strengthen SAP's customer-centric approach by ensuring a consistent and seamless experience from initial contact through to sustainable value creation.
The Customer Value Group is led by Thomas Saueressig (40), who will in future hold the title of Chief Customer Officer due to his expanded area of responsibility. In this position, he is responsible for the entire customer journey and ensures that sales, provision, service and support are optimally coordinated. The goal is to increasingly bring cloud and AI-based SAP solutions into the customer base. Jan Gilg and Manos Raptopoulos, members of the extended board, report directly to Saueressig and continue to jointly manage the customer success organization.
“In an organization where cloud adoption and contract renewals define success, the boundaries between sales and delivery are rapidly disappearing,” said Christian Klein, CEO of SAP. “With the full focus on AI, it is now only logical to bring together Customer Success and Customer Services & Delivery for our customers and for SAP. Thomas Saueressig combines extensive product expertise with extensive experience in service and customer delivery; he enjoys the full trust of our customers and employees. I am convinced that this new organization will create sustainable customer value under his leadership.”
Thomas Saueressig, who has been with the company since 2004, has been on the board of SAP SE since 2019. Before his new position, he led the Customer Services & Delivery department with global responsibility for sustainable customer success in the cloud. Previously, he led SAP Product Engineering, was responsible for the entire SAP application portfolio and drove SAP's internal cloud-first transformation as Chief Information Officer. Saueressig holds a degree in business informatics from the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences and an Executive MBA from the ESSEC Business School in France and the Mannheim Business School in Germany.
