Paris – SAP today announced that Airbus has chosen “RISE with SAP” combined with an end-to-end sovereign cloud operating model. The goal is to build a standardized and scalable technological foundation for central business processes throughout the company.
With RISE with SAP and a consistent sovereign cloud operating model, SAP provides Airbus with a standardized and scalable basis for central business processes.
The collaboration is the result of more than a year of joint preparation between the Airbus and SAP teams. Professional, technical and operational competencies were brought together to define the scope and architecture of the SAP landscape.
The implementation will support key business processes, for example in manufacturing, supply chain, finance and customer service. This creates a secure and scalable foundation that simplifies processes while providing access to the latest innovations from SAP.
“Europe's leadership in the age of AI will increasingly depend on combining innovation with trust. As a European powerhouse, Airbus is proving that digital sovereignty creates the freedom to use cloud and AI without losing control of business-critical processes. We are proud that SAP Sovereign Cloud is helping Airbus transform its SAP landscape and move its most critical SAP business applications to the cloud – with the trust and agility required for the future,” said Martin Merz, President Sovereign Cloud, SAP SE.
Standardized and scalable SAP basis for the future
The core of the collaboration is “RISE with SAP”, which provides Airbus with a uniform technological platform. The focus is on standardization, simplification, harmonization and a “clean core” approach.
SAP is helping Airbus modernize its existing SAP landscape and create an environment that supports more agile business processes as well as the gradual introduction of new functions from the SAP portfolio.
More than 100,000 Airbus employees will benefit from the solution in the future. The new SAP environment should in particular:
- Simplify and standardize business processes,
- increase operational flexibility,
- improve the networking of central company areas,
- enable the use of SAP Business AI and intelligent automation,
- facilitate the use of data across business processes and
- create a scalable basis for future SAP innovations.
Cloud innovation and digital sovereignty combined
An essential part of collaboration is the use of a consistent, sovereign cloud model.
Faced with increasing demands for security, resilience and data control, European companies are increasingly investing in technologies that combine innovation and digital sovereignty. SAP is therefore specifically expanding its sovereign cloud offerings so that customers can benefit from the advantages of modern cloud technologies while at the same time meeting specific data sovereignty requirements.
For SAP, digital sovereignty and innovation complement each other. By combining RISE with SAP and sovereign cloud technologies, European organizations gain a trusted technology foundation that drives innovation while meeting security, data control and operational resilience requirements.
Basis for the next generation of innovation from SAP
The new SAP environment also gives Airbus gradual access to innovations from the entire SAP portfolio. These include, among other things, SAP Business AI, AI agents, intelligent automation and real-time functions based on data-driven decisions.
By bringing together data, applications and business processes within a standardized SAP architecture, the introduction of these technologies on a large scale will be accelerated.
SAP is thus supporting Airbus on the way to more intelligent and increasingly autonomous business processes without compromising on security, stability and control, which are particularly important for regulated industrial companies.
Another milestone in the long-term partnership
This initiative marks another milestone in the long-standing collaboration between Airbus and SAP.
By combining SAP enterprise applications, business AI capabilities and the sovereign cloud offering, the collaboration shows how European industrial companies can leverage the latest generation of cloud and AI technologies in a secure and trustworthy framework.
For SAP, the collaboration with Airbus highlights the strategic role that enterprise technology can play in strengthening the digital capabilities and long-term competitiveness of European industry. Importance of modern business technologies for the digital transformation and long-term competitiveness of European industry.
