SAP NEWSBYTE July 28, 2026 — SAP and the SIGNAL IDUNA Group today announced the launch of a strategic innovation partnership in the area of artificial intelligence (AI).

The aim of the partnership is to identify AI use cases along the SIGNAL IDUNA value chain, develop prototypes and gradually transfer them to regular operations. The basis is the ongoing technological development of the insurance company, which is currently transferring central parts of its system landscape and data architecture to the cloud with RISE with SAP.

In the first step, SIGNAL IDUNA and SAP concentrate on specific areas of work along the ongoing transformation. The focus will be on data-based management of the company and the renewal of core processes. For example, central data, system landscapes and applications are moved to the cloud in order to create faster forecasting and simulation options for the company. In the next phase, the partners plan to expand their collaboration and work together on further innovations in formats such as AI hackathons and workshops.

Johannes Rath, board member at SIGNAL IDUNA for the customer, service and transformation department: “At the SIGNAL IDUNA Group, artificial intelligence is not seen as an isolated technology topic, but as an integral part of our business. That's why last year we provided our entire workforce with a central AI platform in collaboration with Google Cloud for their daily work. With SAP, we connect our technological transformation directly with the development of concrete AI applications for our core business. This creates an innovation ecosystem in which we “By combining the strengths of leading technology partners such as SAP and Google Cloud, we are underlining our aim to further advance the implementation of artificial intelligence in the German insurance industry.”

Thomas Saueressig, Chief Customer Officer and Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE: “The partnership with SIGNAL IDUNA shows how companies use RISE with SAP to create a powerful basis for the use of AI. Together we are driving the transformation towards an autonomous company in which processes are networked end-to-end and controlled in real time. Our goal is clear: AI should have a direct impact on our customers' P&L. On this basis, we develop practical AI use cases for the insurance industry that make processes more efficient and relieve employees of routine so that they can concentrate on value-adding decisions.”
