SAP optimizes enterprise AI with role-based assistants in Joule that coordinate agents across business units

Las Vegas, October 6, 2025 – At the first “SAP Connect” event, SAP will show how the integration of AI, data and applications creates significant added value for companies. SAP innovations are once again setting new standards in the handling of business processes. Innovations include a new network of role-based AI assistants that increase user performance, a growing data ecosystem for deeper business insights, and software that anticipates disruptions in supply chains.

“To be successful in a volatile market environment, companies need more than a patchwork of different best-of-breed applications,” said Muhammad Alam, member of the board of SAP SE, SAP Product & Engineering. “Our announcements today demonstrate how SAP Business Suite, powered by AI, data and applications, enables smarter decisions, faster execution and scalable transformation.”

Deep Research AI and role-based assistants, paired with innovations from the SAP Business Suite, take efficiency to a new level

AI and users work closely together

SAP continues to strengthen the AI assistant Joule as a driving force for the added value of the SAP Business Suite. Based on the applications and data of the entire SAP Business Suite, SAP presents a new generation of role-based AI assistants in Joule that understand the business context. Each AI assistant is designed to support users in their specific role in the company. These assistants leverage the right agents for the task at hand, configuring, combining and controlling them so users can focus on gaining valuable insights and increasing their productivity.

The Joule Assistants are supported by a growing library of specialized Joule Agents to execute complex workflows within a specific function.” For example, a People Manager Assistant coordinates a team of specialized agents – including the new People Intelligence Agent, which can identify and resolve problems such as compensation anomalies – to help executives improve performance. A new Financial Planning Assistant is supported by a group of expert agents – such as the new Cash Management Agent, which optimizes cash flow and improves interest income – to help finance professionals increase efficiency.

This new generation of role-based AI assistants not only work in partnership to help people improve performance in their respective business areas. You will also work cross-functionally to solve complex company-wide challenges.

Data without borders

In order to benefit from AI, data is required, but it is often isolated in different systems. At SAP Connect, SAP is overcoming these hurdles with SAP Business Data Cloud Connect. The solution securely connects SAP Business Data Cloud with partner platforms for a two-way flow of ready-to-use data products across corporate and technical boundaries.

Data is provided without redundant copies and remains secure in SAP systems. Customers can access it immediately in their existing data platforms. The business context is retained. The result: fewer data silos, simpler data flows and no costly data duplication – just trusted data products that are exactly where they are needed.

SAP also announced that Databricks and Google Cloud are the first partners for SAP Business Data Cloud Connect. More will follow. As announced in February 2025, SAP Databricks remains a data service within the SAP Business Data Cloud. BDC Connect extends its benefits across an open data ecosystem. These partnerships give customers faster access to data products for analytics and AI, making it even faster and easier for teams to gain new insights from raw data in real time.

Applications turn data into action

SAP's unique selling point is enterprise applications in which data is generated and AI-supported insights are gained. SAP Supply Chain Orchestration is a new native AI solution that combines the strengths of Joule with a knowledge graph to identify real-time risks among upstream suppliers in multi-tier supply chains and respond with coordinated actions. This allows customers to reduce costs and ensure intact supply chains. The new SAP Engagement Cloud solution uses business-critical context to personalize interactions with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. And the innovative SAP Ariba Procurement portfolio stands out as one of the few native AI solutions that enables customers to benefit from intelligent functions at every phase of spend management, from sourcing to supplier dialogue.

Overall, these SAP Business Suite innovations begin a new era in which a self-reinforcing system of AI, data and applications makes companies smarter, faster and more resilient.
