Walldorf — May 21, 2025 — The Federal Employment Agency relies on RISE with SAP to operate its central payment systems for social benefits cloud-based in the future. By licensing RISE with SAP, the Federal Employment Agency is using SAP's private cloud offering in a German SAP data center.
The integrated consulting services from RISE with SAP ensure a smooth cloud transformation of SAP core systems. This decision underlines the Federal Employment Agency's strategic orientation to modernize its IT infrastructure while maintaining the highest security and data protection standards. The move to the cloud lays the foundation for future-proof, resilient and innovation-oriented administration. “We are relying on RISE with SAP to make the IT landscape of the Federal Employment Agency not only more efficient and closer to citizens, but above all more resilient and future-proof,” says Stefan Latuski, Chief Information Officer of the Federal Employment Agency. “At a time when reliability, flexibility and the ability to innovate are increasingly crucial, our approach is an example of modern and scalable administration in Germany.”
The Federal Employment Agency, a pioneer in the cloud transformation of public services
Within the Federal Employment Agency, 113,000 employees support citizens every day with financial benefits such as unemployment benefit and child benefit. The authority's IT landscape is one of the largest in Germany with over 100 IT processes. The planned migration of the payment systems to SAP's private cloud offering shows that system-critical and complex public sector systems can be transferred to a cloud operated in Germany. The Federal Employment Agency is one of the most progressive public institutions in Germany that efficiently digitizes its business processes using SAP cloud technologies. “By using RISE with SAP, the Federal Employment Agency is taking an important step in the right direction. By choosing RISE with SAP, the Federal Employment Agency is relying on a fully certified cloud infrastructure that meets the highest security and compliance standards and is specifically tailored to the requirements of the public sector. In addition, SAP's Sovereign Cloud capability enables compliance with strict data protection and compliance requirements by storing and processing data in German data centers. This ensures that sensitive information remains under the control of the federal agency while benefiting from the advantages of the cloud. Last year, SAP announced a multibillion-dollar investment program to develop key technologies tailored to the needs of the public sector and highly regulated industries. Over the next ten years, SAP plans to invest over two billion euros in the development of highly secure, local and regulatory-compliant cloud offerings in this country.
